Job summary

Vipul Organics in Bharuch district seeks a skilled maintenance technician with an ITI Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering to service membrane casting, coating, drying/curing and RO membrane element lines.

The role focuses on preventive and breakdown maintenance, ensuring equipment reliability, precise alignments, bearings, pumps, seals and timely maintenance records, while coordinating with Electrical & Automation engineers for integrated faults.

Qualifications

• ITI Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering required.
• 4–7 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.
• Preference given to candidates with coating, printing, flexible packaging, laminating, film extrusion, textile or continuous web-processing machinery experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
• Inspect and maintain rollers, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, couplings, chains, belts, pumps and mechanical drives.
• Perform lubrication and replacement of wear components.
• Monitor abnormal vibration, noise, temperature and mechanical wear.
• Maintain detailed preventive-maintenance records.
• Maintain critical mechanical systems including rollers, bearing and web-handling equipment.
• Attend mechanical breakdowns immediately and restore equipment safely.
• Identify root causes of mechanical failures and perform proper alignments, bearing and seal replacements.
• Follow safety procedures including LOTO and ensure guards and safety devices are restored after maintenance.

Job description

Role Purpose

Responsible for preventive and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment used in membrane casting, coating, drying/curing and RO membrane element manufacturing.

The primary objective is to maintain high equipment reliability, mechanical precision and production uptime while preventing mechanical issues that can affect membrane quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preventive Maintenance

• Carry out preventive maintenance according to established schedules.
• Inspect and maintain rollers, bearings, shafts, gearboxes, couplings, chains, belts, pumps and mechanical drives.
• Perform lubrication and replacement of wear components.
• Monitor abnormal vibration, noise, temperature and mechanical wear.
• Maintain detailed preventive-maintenance records.

2. Casting & Coating Equipment

Maintain critical mechanical systems including:

• Precision rollers
• Roller bearings
• Web-guiding systems
• Web-tension mechanisms
• Coating/casting heads
• Doctor blades and associated assemblies
• Pumps and dosing systems
• Mechanical seals
• Pneumatic cylinders
• Valves
• Drying/curing equipment
• Exhaust and ventilation equipment

Ensure correct mechanical alignment and smooth operation of continuous web-processing equipment.

3. RO Element Rolling Equipment

Maintain and troubleshoot:

• Rolling mechanisms
• Membrane/spacer feeding systems
• Central-tube fixtures
• Pneumatic cylinders
• Cutting mechanisms
• Glue dispensing mechanisms
• Conveyors and material-handling systems
• FRP winding/support equipment where applicable

4. Breakdown Maintenance

• Attend mechanical breakdowns immediately and restore equipment safely.
• Identify the root cause of mechanical failures rather than performing only temporary repairs.
• Conduct alignment, bearing replacement, seal replacement and mechanical adjustment.
• Work jointly with the Electrical & Automation Engineer where faults involve both mechanical and control systems.

5. Precision & Alignment

Particular attention will be required for:

• Roller parallelism
• Shaft alignment
• Bearing condition
• Roller runout
• Web trackingMachine vibration
• Coating-head alignment
• Mechanical gap settings
• Rolling tension mechanisms

Mechanical conditions affecting membrane thickness, coating uniformity or element quality should be immediately escalated to Production and Quality.

6. Utilities & Ancillary Equipment

Support maintenance of:

• Pumps
• Air compressors
• Chilled-water systems
• Vacuum systemsExhaust systems
• Pneumatic networks
• Utility piping and valves

7. Spares Management

• Develop critical mechanical spare-parts lists.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of bearings, seals, belts, chains, couplings, pneumatic components and other wear parts.
• Identify locally available replacements for imported components where technically acceptable.

8. Documentation

Maintain:

• Equipment maintenance logs
• Preventive-maintenance checklists
• Lubrication schedules
• Breakdown reports
• Spare-parts records
• Equipment history cards

9. Safety

• Follow LOTO procedures during maintenance.
• Ensure guards and mechanical safety devices are restored after maintenance.
• Follow plant safety procedures for rotating equipment, hot surfaces, chemicals and solvent-handling areas.

Qualification: ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Experience : 4 to 7 years of hands-on industrial maintenance experience.

Strong preference should be given to candidates who have maintained coating, printing, flexible packaging, laminating, film extrusion, textile, paper or other continuous web-processing machinery.
