Quest Global in Chennai is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of cast/forged axle and transmission components. You will work with Creo Parametric, PLM (Siemens Teamcenter), and FEA tools to ensure robust designs and release documents, coordinating with SDEs, buyers, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, solid understanding of casting processes, and a degree in mechanical or automobile

• Requires Mechanical or Automobile Engineering degree and 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Proficient in Creo Parametric for design of cast/forged components.
• Experience with PLM systems (Siemens Teamcenter).
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous casting processes and GD&T.

Responsabilidades

• Core and detail design experience in casting components such as Gearbox housings, Transmission housings, Axle housings, Differential housings
• Design, Develop and Maintain Axle / Transmission cast/forged components.
• Must be expert in using Creo Parametric 3D Modelling for Structural Cast or Forged Components
• Should have working knowledge on Siemens Teamcenter (PLM) activities for managing Drawing Changes and Release
• Strong knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous casting processes: Sand Casting, Die Casting, Investment Casting, Gravity Die Casting, HPDC and LPDC
• Perform necessary Engineering Calculations to design a component or support Engrg Deviations / Maintenance work using various tools not limited to FEA, Bolted Joint Analysis, GD&T and Tolerance Stack up, Seal Calculations, etc to finetune the component design
• Functional Knowledge on Axle/Transmission Interfaces
• Should have basic/intermediate level understanding of Foundry Operations, Solidification Analysis, Machining Techniques, DFA/DFM/DFS, etc
• Should have working knowledge on Part Development Activities like PPAP, APQP, Part Development Validation Plans, etc. Works with SDE to review and approve PPAPs for component
• Works with SDEs/Buyers and Supplier to complete CPPD and TFC before finalising New Designs and/or Changes
• Should have basic/intermediate level understanding of Metrology practices using various manual & automatic instruments not limited to CMM, Surface Testers, etc
• Must be able to communicate technically / effectively with Platform teams, Modelling / Detailing teams and Purchasing/Mfg Teams

Educational Background

Requires an accredited Mechanical or Automobile Engineering Degree, with 5 plus years of relevant experience and have exhibited ability to work on design projects.
