Job summary

Sciverse Solutions Pvt. Ltd. in Pune district seeks an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to own mechanical product development from concept to production readiness. You will drive design decisions, validation plans, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading mechanical or electromechanical products through multiple development stages.
  • Ability to own physics, validation, manufacturability and performance decisions.
  • Strong fundamentals in engineering mathematics and mechanics.

Responsibilities

  • Translate requirements into mechanical architecture, specs, and detailed solutions.
  • Lead concept development, design, analysis, simulation, prototyping, and validation.
  • Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing docs.
  • Perform calculations on loads, torque, stress, heat transfer, and tolerances.
  • Conduct FEA, thermal, motion, and CFD simulations where applicable.
  • Design mechanisms, fixtures, enclosures, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Lead material selection, GD&T, tolerance strategy, DFM, DFA.
  • Design for manufacturing including CNC, injection molding, sheet metal, 3D printing.
  • Develop prototypes and define test/validation plans.
  • Perform failure analysis and design optimization from test results.
  • Identify risks early and drive manufacturability and performance.
  • Collaborate with electronics, firmware, software, optics, and manufacturing teams.
  • Mentor mechanical engineers and maintain thorough documentation.

Job description

Sciverse is looking for an experienced Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to take ownership of mechanical product development across the complete engineering lifecycle from concept definition and analytical design to simulation, prototyping, validation, and manufacturing readiness.

We are looking for someone who combines strong mechanical fundamentals, mathematical and analytical thinking, simulation expertise, and hands-on product development capability.

Prior medical device experience is not mandatory. Candidates from robotics, automotive, aerospace, instrumentation, industrial automation, consumer electronics, precision engineering, or other complex product-development environments are welcome.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate product and system requirements into mechanical architecture, specifications, and detailed engineering solutions.
  • Lead concept development, mechanical design, engineering analysis, simulation, prototyping, and validation.
  • Develop and review 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, BOMs, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Perform engineering calculations related to: Forces and loads, Torque and motion, Stress and deformation, Heat transfer and thermal behavior, Fluid behavior Fits, clearances, and tolerance stack-ups
  • Conduct and interpret FEA, thermal, motion, and CFD simulations where applicable.
  • Design mechanisms, precision components, fixtures, enclosures, and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Lead material selection, component selection, GD&T, tolerance strategy, DFM, and DFA.
  • Design for manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, 3D printing, and other production methods.
  • Develop prototypes and define engineering test and validation plans.
  • Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigation, and design optimization based on test results.
  • Identify technical, mechanical, thermal, reliability, tolerance, and manufacturing risks early in the development cycle.
  • Drive product development from concept to prototype, engineering validation, pilot build, and production-ready design.
  • Work closely with electronics, firmware, software, optics, manufacturing, and other multidisciplinary teams.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, tool makers, machining partners, and manufacturing vendors.
  • Mentor and technically guide mechanical engineers within the team.
  • Maintain strong engineering documentation, design reviews, calculations, test reports, and revision control.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated experience taking complex mechanical or electromechanical products through multiple stages of development.

We are specifically looking for an engineer who can independently work through: Requirements → Engineering Analysis → Concept Development → Simulation → Detailed Design → Prototype → Testing → Failure Analysis → Iteration → Manufacturing

This is not a CAD-only role. The position requires strong ownership of the underlying physics, mathematics, engineering decisions, validation, manufacturability, and overall mechanical performance of the product.

Education

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
