Job summary

Sunstream seeks an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 5+ years in mechanical design, 3D modelling, and detailed engineering. Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, steel frame modelling, piping systems for water treatment skids, sheet metal enclosures, and GA/detailed drawings is required.

Experience with WTP, STP and potable water skids is highly preferred. Strong drafting, BOM/MTO, and industry standards knowledge are essential for this role.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create detailed 3D mechanical models using Autodesk Inventor based on inputs.
• Develop steel frame models using 3D sketches and Frame Generator.
• Design piping and tubing systems for WTP, STP and potable water skids.
• Design mechanical enclosures and sheet metal components for fabrication.
• Convert concept designs into manufacturable 3D models.
• Prepare GA, fabrication, assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Create and maintain BOMs and Material Take-Offs.
• Apply drafting techniques, projections, sections and details.
• Interpret and apply ASME and ANSI mechanical standards.
• Identify and resolve design, operation and fabrication issues.
• Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, production and project teams to ensure timely delivery.

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design, 3D modelling and detailed engineering. The ideal candidate should have strong hands‑on expertise in Autodesk Inventor, steel frame modelling, piping and tubing design, sheet metal and enclosure design, and preparation of General Arrangement and fabrication drawings. Experience with WTP, STP and potable water skids will be highly preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Create detailed 3D mechanical models using Autodesk Inventor based on concepts, engineering requirements and design inputs.
• Develop steel frame models using 3D sketches and Frame Generator in Autodesk Inventor.
• Design piping and tubing systems for WTP, STP and potable water skids.
• Design mechanical enclosures and sheet metal components for fabrication and manufacturing.
• Convert concept designs into accurate and manufacturable 3D models.
• Prepare General Arrangement (GA), fabrication, assembly and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) and Material Take-Offs (MTO).
• Apply appropriate drafting techniques, projection methods, section views, detailed views and dimensioning practices.
• Interpret and apply applicable mechanical engineering codes and standards, including ASME and ANSI.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve design, operational and fabrication-related issues.
• Coordinate with engineering, fabrication, production and project teams to ensure design accuracy and timely completion.
• Handle multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining quality, accuracy and delivery schedules.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Autodesk Inventor: Strong hands‑on experience in 3D modelling, assemblies, detailing and drawing creation.
• 3D Modelling: Expertise in creating detailed 3D models from concept designs and engineering inputs.
• Steel Frame Modelling: Expertise in 3D sketches and Frame Generator.
• Piping and Tubing: Practical experience in piping/tubing design for WTP, STP and potable skids.
• Sheet Metal and Enclosures: Strong knowledge of sheet metal design, enclosures and fabrication requirements.
• Drafting: Good knowledge of mechanical drafting techniques, procedures, projections, sections and detailed views.
• Engineering Drawings: Experience in GA drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings and manufacturing drawings.
• BOM/MTO: Experience in preparing Bills of Materials and Material Take-Offs.
• Codes and Standards: Good working knowledge of ASME, ANSI and applicable mechanical design standards.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 57 years of relevant experience in Mechanical Design, Mechanical Engineering Design or Product/Equipment Design.
• Strong experience with Autodesk Inventor is required.
• Experience in industrial equipment, skids, water treatment systems, piping, steel structures or fabricated equipment is preferred.
• Ability to understand engineering concepts and translate them into practical, manufacturable designs
