Job summary

DEIC-L&T Precision Engineering & Systems IC in Coimbatore Campus seeks an experienced mechanical assembly professional to review drawings, develop assembly processes, and manage prototype to mass production builds.

You will design jigs and tooling, perform line readiness and validation, and maintain PFMEA/Control Plans while driving Lean initiatives and on-time project milestones. Collaboration with multiple teams is essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical assembly
• Experience with NPI projects and process documentation
• Knowledge of PFMEA, Control Plan, and Standard Work

Responsibilities

• Review customer drawings, BOM, and mechanical assembly specs for NP I projects.
• Develop and implement mechanical assembly processes, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Plan and execute prototype, engineering, pilot, and mass production builds.
• Design, validate, and maintain assembly jigs, fixtures, torque tools, and special tooling.
• Conduct line readiness, process validation, and manufacturing qualification before production.
• Prepare and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, and Standard Work documents.
• Optimize assembly line layout, ergonomics, and line balancing to improve productivity.
• Monitor assembly cycle time, UPH, and manpower utilization to achieve targets.
• Coordinate with Production, Quality, SCM, Test Engineering, and suppliers for project execution.
• Lead root cause analysis (5 Why, Fishbone, 8D) and implement CAPA for assembly issues.
• Ensure compliance with customer specifications, ESD, and EHS requirements.
• Support ECN/ECR changes and maintain revision control documentation.
• Drive Lean initiatives including 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, and waste reduction.
• Support customer audits, product validation, PPAP/FAI activities, and milestones.
• Track KPIs such as FPY, productivity, quality, delivery, and continuous improvement.
