Job summary

Roots Group in Coimbatore, India, is seeking an experienced design-for-manufacturing and NPI specialist to design scalable manufacturing processes for electro-mechanical enclosures, panel wiring, potting, and conformal coating. You will develop routings, process flows, and SOPs to enable repeatable mass production.

You will lead transitions from prototype to full-scale production, review CAD models, and ensure compliance with IPC-A-610, ESD, ISO 9001/IATF16949.

Qualifications

  • Experience with wire harness routing, soldering, potting, and testing in manufacturing.
  • Ability to evaluate CAD models and physical layouts for mass production.
  • Knowledge of End-of-Line testers, robotic soldering, and root-cause analysis methods.
  • Proficiency in defining takt times, cycle times, and SOPs.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and SAP.

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable, repeatable manufacturing processes for enclosures, panel wiring, potting, and conformal coating.
  • Develop routings, process flows, and SOPs to enable mass production.
  • Lead transitions from prototype to full-scale production (NPI).
  • Coordinate assembly, cable wiring, and testing into a single workflow.
  • Implement error-proofing and track FPY.

Tooling&FixtureDesign: Specify,design,andprocurecustomassemblyjigs,testfixtures,andworkstationlayoutstooptimizeergonomicsandmanufacturingTakttime.

QualityControl&RootCauseAnalysis: Utilizeproblem-solvingmethodologies(e.g.,8D,Ishikawa,Six sigma)toidentify,troubleshoot,andresolveassemblydefects.TrackFirstPassYield(FPY)andimplementerror-proofing(Poka-Yoke).

Requirements
  • Assembly Technologies: Expertise in wire harness routing,soldering, potting, and testing

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Knowledge of End-of-Line (EOL) testers,Robotic Soldering and failure root-cause analysis (e.g., 5-Why, Ishikawa, 8D).
  • Process Documentation: Proficiency in defining Takt times, calculating cycle times, and writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Software Tools: Familiarity with 2D/3D CAD tools (like AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and SAP
  • Increased Production Yields: Engineers resolve bottlenecks, reducing component scrap and optimizing assembly cycles.
  • Defect Reduction & Rework: They use root-cause analysis to address failures early, ensuring compliance with UL, CE, and EMI/EMC standards.
