Job description

Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled

We are looking for a skilled Structural Integrity Engineer with a strong focus on Steam Turbine Operations to ensure the structural soundness and reliability of turbine components operating under long term high thermal and mechanical stresses. The role involves deep mechanical investigations of fatigue behaviors, creep, fracture-mechanics, etc. pertaining to determining design-life. This role requires ability to act as Mechanics Lead for R&D Projects / Sub-projects involving fulfilment of design validation, release and operational diagnostics in order to maintain optimal turbine performance while minimizing the risk of failure or unplanned downtime.

What will be my responsibilities?
  • Assess the mechanical integrity of critical steam turbine / expander components including rotors, diaphragms, blades, casings, exhausts, valve bodies, bolts, and welds using detailed FEA and analytical methods.
  • Evaluate damage mechanisms such as:
    • Low-cycle and high-cycle fatigue (LCF/HCF)
    • Creep and creep-fatigue interaction
    • Thermal ratcheting and cyclic thermal stress
    • Crack initiation and propagation (fracture mechanics)
  • Ability to act as Mechanics Lead Projects / Sub-Projects within R&D involving
    • Technology development for Steam Turbine Operations based on Turbine Loading conditions, Controlling Logics, Life Assessment, etc.
    • Collaborate with Thermal cycle, Mechanical design, Operations, and Service / Warranty teams to improve component longevity and reliability.
    • Prepare technical documentation: Integrity Assessments, Risk Analyses, Stress Reports, and Service Recommendations.
  • Provide engineering support during Proposal, Manufacturing / Assembly, Turbine Outages, Overhauls, and Start-up/Shutdown sequences.
  • Stay up to date with steam turbine integrity standards, such as ASME PTC, API 579, and OEM guidelines.
  • As per the business needs, flexibly switch to other calculation topics like Rotor dynamics, Thermodynamics, etc. Therefore, additional experience in such calculations would be a great advantage.
What do I need to qualify for this job?
  • BE/B.Tech or ME/M.Tech (Mechanical – any Govt. Engineering college) with CGPA > 8.0
  • Minimum 10-15 years of Engineering experience in Structural Integrity, Materials, Life Assessment criterions.
  • Strong fundamentals in Strength of Materials & Machine Design – This will be the key assessment point.
  • Strong command of FEA tools (e.g., ABAQUS, ANSYS) and fatigue/crack growth software. - Mandatory
  • Understanding of Rotordynamics & Thermodynamics fundamentals will be beneficial.
  • Relevant work experience in Turbomachinery will be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Finite Element Method (FEM) is mandatory.
  • Ability to work in Global Team in VUCA environment.
Why Join Us
  • Be part of a cutting-edge R&D team driving innovation in thermal power.
  • Help optimize asset performance and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Shape the future of safe, efficient and intelligent turbine operation through engineering excellence.
  • Competitive compensation and career development in a forward-looking engineering environment.
