Job summary

Quest Global in Bengaluru, India seeks an experienced FEA engineer to perform static and dynamic thermal and thermo-mechanical analyses of gas turbine casings using Ansys, Abaqus, and APDL. You will mesh with Ansys Classic & WB and assess reliability of critical components.

Applicants should have 6–10 years in FEA for turbomachinery, strong solid mechanics fundamentals, familiarity with ASME BPV, and ability to deliver high-quality analysis reports. Rotor dynamics is a plus.

Qualifications

• Gas turbine FEA experience required.
• Proficient with ANSYS, Abaqus, and NX.
• B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical or equivalent.

Job Requirements

• Execute complex tasks within high performing FEA team.
• Do hand calculations leveraging a strong foundation in engineering fundamentals.
• Performing steady state and transient thermal, structural and thermo-mechanical analysis.
• Do analytical calculations of bolted/welded constructions.
• Understand and define contacts, conducting nonlinear analysis, vibration analysis, buckling analysis, etc.
• Thorough understanding of high-cycle fatigue (HCF), low-cycle fatigue (LCF), creep, and fracture mechanics.
• Drive technical solutions and engage in reviews with both internal and external customers.
• Writing of analysis reports and certification reports.
• Ensuring timely and high-quality deliveries for complex development projects.
• Have a solutioning mindset and approach to work.

Work Experience

• Experience in performing static/dynamic, transient, linear and non-linear thermal and thermo-mechanical analysis of gas turbine static & especially Casings using commercial software such as Ansys (Classic/Workbench), Abaqus and APDL. Good in meshing with Ansys Classic & WB.
• Engineer is expected to have solid understanding of Critical Parts and Reliability Sensitivity component
• Good understanding of ANSYS Element library.
• Knowledge of NX, Cleaning up models & local modifications Graduate/Post Graduate in Mechanical engineering or equivalent with 6 to 10 years of experience in finite element analysis (FEA) especially in turbomachinery domain.
• Strong fundamental in Finite element methods and solid mechanics.
• Experience in product design of turbomachinery i.e., Gas turbine, steam turbine will be preferred.
• Experience in performing strength assessment as per ASME BPV Sec VIII Code.
• Experience in Rotor dynamics is an added advantage.
• Performing low cycle fatigue, high cycle fatigue and detailed fracture mechanics assessments of Gas turbine static & rotating components.
