Job summary

Marutee Design And Engineering Private Limited in Bengaluru seeks a mechanical design engineer with 5–8 years of experience to design welded aluminium chassis frames, swappable battery enclosures and powertrain mounting for a four‑wheel electric cargo vehicle.

Ideal candidates hold a BE/B.Tech in Mechanical or Automobile Engineering and have hands-on expertise in aluminium weldments, CATIA V5 or SolidWorks weldments, and EV battery enclosure concepts.

Qualifications

• Experience in welded aluminium frame design and battery enclosure concepts.
• BE/B.Tech Mechanical or Automobile Engineering degree required.
• Exposure to EV components and powertrain mounting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design welded aluminium chassis frame and steering cross members.
• Define fabrication schemes, weld symbols and heat-affected-zone allowances.
• Design swappable battery housing for 48 V packs with locking and service access.
• Propose cooling/fan provisions and CAD-based layouts for assemblies.
• Create weldment, casting and assembly drawings; support fixtures with manufacturing.

About the role

Design the welded aluminium chassis frame, swappable battery enclosure and powertrain mounting of a four-wheel electric cargo vehicle.

Key responsibilities

• Design a welded 6061-T6 aluminium chassis frame and its members, including steering support and cross members.
• Define the fabrication scheme: tube and extrusion sections, joint design, weld symbols and heat-affected-zone allowance.
• Design suspension mounts as machined castings and a family of mounting brackets for bought-out components.
• Design a swappable battery housing for multiple 48 V Li-ion packs, with slide/removal mechanism, locking, drainage, venting and service access.
• Define cooling-fan provision with CAE; design fan mounting and airflow path.
• Design vibration-isolated mounts for the traction motor, pedal generator, on-board charger, BMS and DC-DC converter; package pedals and cranks.
• Develop a battery handling trolley concept.
• Produce weldment, casting and assembly drawings; support weld-fixture concepts with manufacturing.

Skills and tools

• Aluminium weldment design (AWS D1.2 or equivalent); extrusion and tube selection; casting design for machining; battery enclosure sealing and IP rating; mechanism design; GD&T.
• CATIA V5 or SolidWorks weldments.
• Preferred: awareness of traction-battery safety standards; EV battery enclosure experience.
