Job summary

Tata Gotion is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Lead/Manager to drive manufacturing excellence across battery production. You will lead process development, optimization, and new product industrialization with strong emphasis on safety, quality, and cost efficiency.

You will manage a team of engineers, collaborate with Product Engineering, R&D, and Operations, and champion Industry 4.0 initiatives to enhance throughput and OEE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent required.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and continuous improvement preferred.
  • Experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, EV, or high-volume manufacturing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity and quality.
  • Lead NPI and industrialization activities from concept to mass production.
  • Define equipment requirements and oversee installation, commissioning, and qualification.

About the Role

Tata Gotion is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Manufacturing Engineering Lead / Manager to drive manufacturing excellence, process optimization, productivity improvement, and new product industrialization across battery manufacturing operations. The incumbent will lead manufacturing engineering initiatives to ensure efficient, safe, cost-effective, and high-quality production processes while supporting the organization's growth objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Process Development & Optimization


  • Develop, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and operational efficiency.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and Industry 4.0 methodologies.

  • Analyze manufacturing data to identify bottlenecks, reduce cycle times, improve OEE, and enhance throughput.

  • Lead process capability studies, line balancing, and productivity improvement projects.


New Product Introduction (NPI)


  • Support new product launches and industrialization activities from concept to mass production.

  • Collaborate with Product Engineering, R&D, Quality, and Operations teams to establish robust manufacturing processes.

  • Lead process validation activities and ensure readiness for production ramp-up.


Equipment & Tooling Management


  • Define manufacturing equipment requirements and oversee installation, commissioning, and qualification activities.

  • Drive automation initiatives and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies.

  • Ensure tooling, fixtures, and process equipment meet safety, quality, and productivity requirements.


Team Leadership & Capability Development


  • Lead and mentor a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Process Engineers.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, accountability, and operational excellence.

  • Conduct performance reviews, competency development, and succession planning for team members.


Quality & Compliance


  • Ensure manufacturing processes comply with company standards, customer requirements, and statutory regulations.

  • Collaborate with Quality teams for root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), and process improvements.

  • Drive adherence to safety, environmental, and quality management systems.


Project & Stakeholder Management


  • Lead cross-functional projects related to capacity expansion, localization, process enhancement, and cost optimization.

  • Manage capital investment projects, budgets, timelines, and resource allocation.

  • Coordinate with Operations, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Quality, and global stakeholders to achieve business objectives.


Cost & Productivity Improvement


  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality and safety.

  • Monitor manufacturing KPIs and develop action plans to achieve operational targets.

  • Support annual productivity and efficiency improvement programs.


Desired Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Electronics, or related Engineering discipline.

  • Master's Degree preferred.


Experience


  • 10 to 15+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or Industrial Engineering.

  • Experience in Battery Manufacturing, Automotive, EV, Electronics, or High-Volume Manufacturing preferred.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in team leadership or managerial roles.


Technical Competencies


  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, TPM, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

  • Process Validation, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA, and Root Cause Analysis.

  • Manufacturing Automation and Industry 4.0 concepts.

  • Project Management and Capital Equipment Implementation.

  • Strong knowledge of Quality Systems and Safety Standards.
