Job summary

ALTEN India is seeking a senior QA engineer to join its automotive infotainment validation team in Chennai. You will validate features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, navigation, and media playback, and perform manual and system testing across vehicle interfaces.

You will review requirements, design test plans, execute test cases, analyze defects, and collaborate with development teams to ensure quality releases. This role offers growth in a dynamic, aerospace-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, CS, Instrumentation or related engineering field.
• 2–6 years of automotive infotainment validation experience.
• Experience with manual functional and system testing.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills.
• Knowledge of CAN/LIN, Ethernet, OTA, and vehicle protocols.

Responsibilities

• Review customer requirements, create and execute validation strategies and test plans.
• Design, develop and execute manual test cases from requirements.
• Perform feature validation, integration and system testing with regression testing.
• Validate customer-reported issues and reproduce defects.
• Verify software fixes and perform defect validation and release sanity checks.
• Prepare test reports and maintain execution status.

• Media Playback (USB, AUX, Internal Storage)
• Navigation
• Voice Recognition
• Phone and Contact Management
• Connectivity Features (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, OTA)

• Design, develop, and execute manual test cases based on requirements.

System & Connectivity Validation Responsibilities

• Validate Bluetooth pairing, connectivity, and interoperability with multiple mobile devices.
• Validate Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality across different phone models.
• Perform USB and media validation across supported formats.
• Verify phone, audio, navigation, and voice assistant functionality.
• Validate system behavior during ignition cycles, sleep/wake cycles, and power mode transitions.
• Conduct stress, endurance, and performance testing.
• Analyze logs and support root cause investigation with development teams.
• Perform basic network and connectivity validation using CAN and interfaces.
• Validate OTA updates and software installation procedures.
• Support vehicle level and bench-level testing activities.

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of Automotive Infotainment architecture.
• Experience in Manual Functional Testing and System Testing.
• Expertise in Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Radio, Media, and Navigation validation.
• Knowledge of Automotive Communication Protocols:
• CAN
• LIN
• Ethernet
• Experience in requirement-based testing and traceability.
• Good understanding of software development and validation lifecycle.
• Experience in defect management and tracking.
• Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and customer interaction skills.
