Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited in Chennai seeks an experienced engineer to drive APQP-based part development. The role focuses on manufacturability analysis, cost estimation, and supplier coordination to meet MPDS targets and PPAP requirements.

You will plan processes at supplier sites, prepare control plans, and lead PPAP activities ensuring first-time-right parts. Strong GD&T, SAP, and MS Office skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years of relevant experience in automotive parts development.
• Hands-on knowledge of APQP, PPAP, MPDS, and SPC practices.
• Strong GD&T and measurement-instrument proficiency.
• Proficiency in SAP and MS Office for documentation and analysis.
• Bachelor's or master’s degree in Mechanical/Production engineering.
• Experience collaborating with suppliers and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop parts with right quality to support production targets under APQP.
• Study drawings for manufacturability and cost estimation.
• Estimate component costs and perform parts costing.
• Participate in cost negotiations within budgets with vendors.
• Plan supplier processes and prepare process flow charts and control plans.
• Carry out MSA and SPC as required and complete PPAP documentation.
• Support PPAP trials, inspect parts, and clear PPAP acceptance.
• Engage with commodity teams to identify suppliers and assess costs.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

Description of the job and key result areas:

• To develop right quality of parts to support desired production levels following APQP process
• To study the received drawing and to confirm the manufacturability.
• Estimate costs component wise and details costing of the components/new part.
• To participate in settling the material and tooling cost within the budgeted values.
• To select the vendor as per guiding policy for the part.
• To plan process at supplierÂs end and to prepare PFC (Process Flow Chart) and control plan
• To carry our MSA and SPC if required
• To cover applicable elements of PPAP and complete the documentation
• To be present during PPAP trial run, check the parts and clear PPAP
• To meet the Gateways as per MPDS (Mahindra Product Development System) targets for projects.
• To develop the part with right time and with right cost.
• To ensure right fixtures, gauges and Toolings are planned for the development
• To ensure first time right PPAP.
• To get actively involved in project feasibility studies.
• To ensure 100% PIST (Percentage Inspection points Satisfying Tolerance and PIPC (Percent Indices Process Capable
• To ensure 100% GR acceptance for the parts after PPAP approval
• Interface with the commodity teams to identify potential suppliers, get suppliers ratings, costs, and sourcing policy.

Knowledge/Skills Required

• Good knowledge of various manufacturing processes and FTGÂs required for these processes
• To have good knowledge of measuring instruments and equipment used in machining process
• PPAP, New Part Development System (MP, EP, VP, and PP), APQP, SPC, and Problem solving techniques.
