Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking a supplier quality engineer to monitor and improve aluminium casting and machining quality across lines and in field operations. You will collaborate with suppliers to drive improvements and ensure robust PPAP processes.

The role requires deep knowledge of casting and machining processes, GD&T, and quality tools, with a focus on preventing defects and ensuring supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Aluminium casting processes - GDC, HPDC, LPDC and defects and remedies.
• Knowledge of Heat Treatment of Aluminium castings.
• Knowledge of machining processes and functional tests (leakage, continuity, millipore).
• Knowledge of Dimensional (GD&T), X-ray, Chemical, Mechanical & Metallurgical checks on aluminium castings and machined parts.
• Familiar with PPAP, SPC, MSA, 7 QC tools; knowledge of QC story and Six Sigma is advantageous.
• Familiar with supplier quality management systems (supplier performance monitoring, audits, improvements, process development).
• Ability to take strong positions and analytical thinking.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and improve aluminium casting rejection during machining and related processes.
• Analyse and resolve concerns at machining line, assembly line, user plant and field.
• Monitor and close supplier part concerns with immediate and permanent actions.
• Drive supplier collaboration to improve manufacturing processes and implement improvements and pokayokes.
• Plan supplier audits and ensure closure of observed gaps.
• Ensure adherence to 100% PIST & PIPC for ownership supplier parts.
• Share lessons learned with platform teams for new product development inputs.
• Provide support in new product development and joint PPAP with CDMM.
• Coordinate concern resolution with Field, User plant and in-house teams for critical parts.
• Monitor supplier performance through audits and SCARs; implement improvements.

Job description

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

• Monitoring, analysis & improvement of Aluminium casting rejection during machining
• Analyse & resolve concerns related to Aluminium casting, machining at machining line, assembly line, user plant & field.
• Monitor & close supplier part concerns by deploying adequate immediate & permanant actions at supplier end.
• Monitor & improve supplier performance, improve stright pass ratio of supplier parts.
• Drive collaboration with suppliers to improve their manufacturing processes and deploy processes , improvements, actions ,pokayokes, etc.
• Plan supplier audits, monitor adherance of visits, closure of gaps observed, etc.
• Monitor, check & ensure 100% PIST & PIPC adherance for ownership supplier parts.
• Ensure that the lessons learned from product families are shared with the platform team (COE, CDMM etc.) for new product development as input for prevention of repeated known issues
• Provide support and involvement in new product development, improvements through early involvement into product development Process and completion of joint PPAP with CDMM
• Participation & Co ordination of concern resolution with Field, User plant and in-house for critical parts
• Monitor supplier performance measurement, supplier audits and Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR), etc.
• Develop and ensure implementation of process norms for management of suppliers by Verification of products and services from the suppliers.
• Evaluation of performance of suppliers and monitor the improvement plans.
• Enhance technical capabilities of vendor through systems and knowledge upgradations
• Review, Analyze and implement results of quality audits at supplier end

• Competencies

Knowldge of Aluminium casting processes - GDC, HPDC, LPDC & defects generated in the the process, remedies of those defects, .
Knowledge of Heat Treatment of Aluminium castings.
Knowledge of machining processes, functional tests like leakage, continuity, millipore, etc.
Functional knowledge of Aluminium castings used in Engine & Transmission line Cylinder blocks, Heads, Pipes, Transmission housings, pipes, etc.
Knowledge of Dimensional (GD &T), X ray, Chemical, Mechanical & Metallurgical checks on Aluminium castings & machined parts.
Familiar with PPAP, SPC, MSA, 7 QC tools, etc. Knowledge of QC story , six sigma methodology & its usage will be an added advantage.
Familiar with supplier quality management systems like supplier performance monitoring, supplier audits, supplier improvements, process development, etc.
Ability to take strong positions and not bow to pressure, high level of analytical ability
