Responsibilities

• Lead a team of quality engineers and technicians to verify and audit products from inception through production to customer acceptance.
• Liaise with customers and quality agencies for pre-, during- and post-production audits for aerospace/defence to automotive and renewables.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders (purchase, stores, production, design) and external QA representatives to meet audit expectations.
• Oversee verification of components, in-process inspection, testing, stress screening and final acceptance testing.
• Witness qualification tests and environmental tests; manage document control and quality records.
• Report to senior management and promote a proactive, inclusive quality culture.

Job description

Position Overview:

Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) is one of the key positions at Aeron responsible for ensuring that not only products manufactured at Aeron meet the customer expectations and adopted and applicable standards (such as AS9100, ISO9001, ISO45001, MIL and DO, AQA, AFQMS) but also that each stage of the product lifecycle strictly conforms to the set expectations.

Responsibilities:

As Manager - Quality (Plant Operations), the selected individual will have to lead a team of quality engineers and technicians to verify and audit a product from its inception, its verification during design and development and during production to its delivery and acceptance by customers quality representatives.

The job requires liaising with customers and quality agencies for quality audits pre-, during and post- production of navigation systems, weather stations, inertial sensors and other electronic devices and LRUs manufactured by Aeron for its customers from a range of segments from aerospace and defence to automotive and renewable energy.

The Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) will play central role in talking to and meeting the audit expectations of quality agencies such as DGAQA, CQA, BEL-QA, HAL-QA and coordinating third-party lab staff such as TASL, DRDO and TUV.

The Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) will oversee and be involved in (on need basis) in the verification of:

• Components and materials procured for developing and manufacturing a product
• Stages of production through in-process inspection
• Testing and calibration of each product or product batch (as applicable)
• Survival through stress screening
• Final product performance through factory (or user) acceptance testing

The Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) will also be responsible for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for product acceptance including various departments such as purchase, stores, production, design and development and customer QA and quality agency representatives. The Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) will report to senior management in the organization.

The candidate should have a systematic, methodical and scientific approach and good problem-solving skills.

Required Qualification:

B.E. / B. Tech / M. Tech / M. Sc in Electronics or Electrical Engineering or Electronics Science

Training as AS9100D or IATF16949 internal auditor

Training in quality standards such as AQA / DO178, ISO26262 or ARP4754

Skills:

Knowledge of standards DO and/or AQA forms

Hands on with MS Office, Word editor, Excel, Presentation and PDF

Experience with some kind of ERP or PLM software for record keeping

Capabilities and Experience:

Minimum 8-15 years experience of working as Manager - Quality (Plant Operations) for an aerospace or automotive firm preferably manufacturing electronics or avionics equipment

Experience of overseeing a team of quality engineers or technicians

Well versed and hands-on with standard quality documentation, forms and procedures

Sound knowledge of quality standards such as ISO 26262 or DO178, AQA directives, MIL standards, DDPMAS and IMTAR21 (preferable)

Experience of handing third-party audits and liaising with customer quality representatives

Firsthand experience of witnessing qualification tests and environmental stress screening tests and pre- and post- acceptance tests

Knowledge of configuration control methods and procedures
