Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to lead end-to-end development of proprietary 2W engine and vehicle parts. You will drive new product development, localization, and design changes while ensuring drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements are met.

Role involves supplier identification and development for MTB/ETB/ECU components, driving APQP and PPAP approvals, and ensuring readiness for mass production.

Qualifications

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• Experience: 4–8 years in 2W/automotive transmission components.
• Exposure to Engine & transmission systems.
• Experience in 2W OEM or Tier-1 supplier.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of Mechanical Proprietary parts for 2W applications (Engine and Vehicle parts).
• Work on new product development (NPD), localization, and design change activities.
• Ensure technical specifications, drawings, and manufacturing requirements are met.

To develop and industrialize Mechanical Proprietary parts like Mechanical & Electronic Throttle body (MTB & ETB)/Lambda sensor/Electronic Control Unit (ECU)/ Spark plug/ Fuel Pump assy/Injector/ABS system for two-wheelers ensuring quality, durability, cost optimization, and timely project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of Mechanical Proprietary for 2W applications (Engine and Vehicle parts).
• Work on new product development (NPD), localization, and design change activities.
• Ensure technical specifications, drawings, and manufacturing requirements to be met.
• Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers for Mechanical & Electronic Throttle body (MTB & ETB)/Lambda sensor/Electronic Control Unit (ECU)/ Spark plug/ Fuel Pump assy/Injector.
• Drive APQP, PPAP approvals with suppliers.
• Ensure supplier readiness for mass production.

4. Manufacturing Process Management

• Monitor and optimize key processes:
• Casting, Machining, Electronics PCB, Rubber & Plastic moulding, Tubular parts manufacturing.
• Heat treatment (carburizing, hardening, tempering, nitriding)
• Surface finishing (Plating/painting/powder coating)
• Ensure adherence to process capability (Cp, Cpk).

5. Quality & Validation

• Plan and execute validation activities:
• Metallurgical checks
• Dimensional inspection
• DVP testing & Validation
• Analyse field failures and implement corrective actions.
• Implement 8D, root cause analysis, and continuous improvements.

6. Cost Optimization

• Drive cost reduction initiatives through:
• VA/VE activities
• Process improvements
• Material optimization
• Support localization and alternate sourcing strategies.

7. Project Management

• Track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Purchase, Production).
• Ensure timely SOP (Start of Production).

8. Documentation & Compliance

• Maintain technical documentation:
• Drawings
• Specifications
• PPAP documents

• Proprietary parts handling/TSO closure/Development tracking wrt PPAP & APQP gateways
• Metallurgy of Electronics/Casting/Rubber/plastic
