About the role

Responsible for Payroll operations for UK, Tesco Bank, ROI, and One Stop colleagues.

You will be responsible for:

• Developing and leading a high-performing team, creating an environment for success by setting direction and coaching them to succeed through inspiring conversations every day. (Refer to the expectations of a manager at Tesco - the minimum standards)
• Initiating and designing continuous improvement initiatives to drive performance within their teams
• Accountable for achieving team objectives, stakeholder management, and escalation management
• Making decisions within policy and procedure framework to deliver business plans
• Mentoring, career development conversations, and performance management
• Delivering acceptable scores on WMTY and GPTW surveys, maintaining motivation, and ensuring optimal resource utilization
• Delivering operational excellence every time, on time, with high accuracy and efficiency by following key metrics and SLAs for Payroll (17 processes/12 teams), compliant with legislation and agreements
• Driving additional projects through efficiency and continuous improvements
• Building a controlled environment with minimal business risk and exposure

You will need:

• Experience in a transactional service-based environment preferred
• Background in UK Payroll environment desirable but not mandatory
• Stakeholder management experience (mandatory)
• Experience in setting up new processes or transitions (desirable)
• Minimum of 2 years as a Manager of Payroll Admin (mandatory)
• Minimum of 4 years in People Management, managing teams of more than 8 colleagues (mandatory)
