About the Role

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrates strong leadership, problem-solving, independent decision-making, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

The role involves managing legal request intake and distribution from Sales, balancing contract workloads, handling escalations, and personally drafting, redlining, and negotiating complex commercial agreements with customers, partners, and vendors. The individual will uphold the highest standards of judgment, integrity, and ethical leadership while managing risk, developing a high-performing team, and supporting Perforce’s business objectives.

Working closely with the US-based contracts team and cross-functional stakeholders – including Sales, Sales Operations, Customer Success, Customer Support, Professional Services, Information Security, Finance, and Revenue Operations – the Manager will ensure global contracting alignment, effective contract negotiation, and compliance with contractual obligations. The position reports to the Managing Counsel in the United States.

What You'll Do:
  • Serve as the first Legal Team hire in Pune and build, hire, onboard, train, mentor, and lead a local commercial contracts team while driving a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Manage the legal request queue from Sales through Salesforce, triage and prioritise incoming work, balance workloads, monitor service levels and turnaround times, and act as the primary escalation point for complex legal, commercial, and negotiation matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and execute complex commercial agreements, including on-premise software licences, SaaS agreements, professional services agreements, channel and partner agreements, data processing agreements, and other contracts supporting go-to-market activities.
  • Partner closely with US-based legal colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders to align negotiation standards, playbooks, approval processes, contract governance, legal operations, AI-enabled workflow improvements, contract repository management, and risk-based commercial decision-making.
What You'll Bring:
  • Undergraduate degree required; law degree (LL.B. or equivalent) preferred, with at least 10 years of hands-on experience drafting and negotiating technology, software licensing, cloud-hosted software, SaaS, and platform-as-a-service agreements.
  • At least 3 years of people-management experience, including direct leadership of contracts professionals, with demonstrated success building, scaling, recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Experience managing high-volume legal intake processes within Salesforce, a contract lifecycle management platform, or a similar system, together with strong commercial negotiation skills across enterprise software transactions, revenue models, risk assessment, and global contracting practices.
  • Excellent drafting, communication, leadership, project-management, and organisational skills; experience working in-house for a global technology company strongly preferred. Experience with Artificial Intelligence tools is required, legal AI tools are a plus, and willingness to support US collaboration hours during onboarding is essential.

All employees are expected to demonstrate AI fluency appropriate to their role and level, including responsible use of AI tools, sound judgment, and adherence to company AI governance and security policy standards.
