Job summary

Galaxy Cargo Services - A DP World Company is seeking an experienced freight professional to oversee end-to-end ocean shipment management, from origin booking to delivery. The role requires strong knowledge of air/ocean operations, documentation, and cost optimization through consolidation strategies.

You will coordinate with liners, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure accurate invoicing, timely shipments, and excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience managing export ocean freight shipments from India with exposure to documentation and operational process.
• Experience leading a team in a freight forwarding environment.
• Strong understanding of LCL and FCL products and market dynamics.
• Proven accuracy and ability to produce high‑quality work.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Shipment Management: oversee booking, tracking, and delivery of ocean shipments.
• Identify and resolve operational or service issues with stakeholders.
• Manage customer communications, queries and billing-related requests.
• Demonstrate expertise in free-hand and nomination freight operations.
• Apply consolidation knowledge to optimize freight costs and efficiency.
• Coordinate liner bookings and supplier schedules for timely shipments.
• Coordinate container stuffing/loading across locations with regulatory compliance.
• Oversee interactions with surveyors, carting staff, customs officers and others.
• Prepare, review and process invoices; support customers for timely payments.

Role & responsibilities

• End-to-End Shipment Management: Manage the entire lifecycle of ocean shipments, including booking at origins, tracking, and ensuring timely delivery.
• Issue Identification and Resolution: Proactively identify operational or service issues and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address them effectively.
• Customer Communication: Address internal and external customer queries, concerns, and requests regarding shipments, billing, status updates, services, carriers, etc. Escalate complex issues as necessary.
• Freight Operations Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in managing both free-hand and nomination shipments, ensuring efficient handling and timely execution.
• Consolidation Knowledge: Possess a strong understanding of consolidation practices to optimize freight operations and reduce costs where applicable.
• Liner and Supplier Coordination: Liaise with liners and suppliers to secure vessel bookings and schedule shipments effectively.
• Container Management: Coordinate container stuffing or loading activities, ensuring compliance with regulations and organizational requirements across various locations (Factory, CFS).
• Stakeholder Management: Oversee interactions with surveyors, carting staff, customs officers, and other relevant parties to facilitate smooth operations.
• Invoicing and Financial Oversight: Create, process, and review invoices for operational accuracy. Collaborate with customers to address inquiries and facilitate timely payments.

Preferred candidate profile

• At least 8+ years managing export ocean freight shipments from India with exposure to documentation and operational process
• Team Handling.
• Good Knowledge of all Freight Forwarding department.
• Accurate and able to produce quality work
• Comprehensive knowledge of LCL and FCL products, competitors in the market, key leverages for product growth, etc.
