Sterlite Power seeks a Manager- Manufacturing Engineer to oversee the cable/conductor plant in India. You will lead a large team, driving safety, quality, and cost efficiency while ensuring on-time delivery and asset uptime.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in managing plant operations, preferably in capital goods or cable/conductor manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Polymer or related field).
  • At least 3 years as production head or equivalent in cable/conductor manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end cable/conductor plant operations, achieving production targets, timely delivery, and cost optimization.
  • Develop and mentor production managers, engineers, supervisors, and operators with a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer specs, and implement corrective actions from root-cause analyses.
  • Oversee maintenance, asset utilization, and spare parts availability to maximize uptime.
  • Drive HSE initiatives and ensure workplace safety and environmental standards.
  • Manage plant budgets and CAPEX projects within approved timelines and budgets.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Finance, HR, and regulatory bodies to align operations with business goals.
  • Oversee supplier/vendor relationships and ensure timely material availability.

Position Title

Manager- Manufacturing Engineer (Cable Division)

Position Summary

This position will be responsible for overseeing the entire operations of the cable/ conductor manufacturing facility, ensuring efficient and safe production processes, maintaining product quality, and meeting organizational goals related to cost, output, and profitability.

The role also involves leading a large team, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
  • Operations Management: Lead end-to-end power cable manufacturing operations, ensuring production targets, timely delivery, process efficiency, cost optimization, and continuous improvement.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop production managers, engineers, supervisors, and operators while driving a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and high performance.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer specifications; oversee quality controls, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Maintenance & Asset Management: Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance, high equipment uptime, effective asset utilization, and availability of critical spares.
  • HSE: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards and drive initiatives to minimize workplace incidents.
  • Cost & Budget Management: Manage plant budgets and drive cost optimization across materials, energy, manpower, and processes while monitoring key operational KPIs.
  • Supply Chain & Vendor Management: Ensure timely availability of raw materials, optimize inventory, and manage key supplier/vendor relationships.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, manage audits, and implement corrective actions.
  • Projects & CAPEX: Lead capacity expansion, equipment upgrades, process improvements, and CAPEX projects within approved timelines and budgets.
  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with Sales, Finance, HR, senior management, customers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to align plant operations with business objectives.
Critical Success Factors - Essential

Educational Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics, Polymer, or related field.) or equivalent.

Experience:

15+ years of experience in managing plant operations with at least 3 years as production Head in capital goods transmission or cable conductor manufacturing sector
