Job summary

Leighton Asia Limited seeks an experienced lawyer to lead legal and contractual work on EPC and construction projects in Mumbai. The role focuses on drafting, negotiating, vetting, and interpreting complex contracts, while supporting tendering, risk assessment, and project teams.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of experience in construction or EPC and strong expertise in contract administration, with the ability to advise on disputes, variations, and termination provisions.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in construction, infrastructure or EPC projects.
• Experience in drafting, negotiating and interpreting contracts.
• Strong knowledge of contract law and risk allocation.

Responsibilities

• Review, draft, negotiate, and administer EPC, construction, subcontractor, supplier, consultancy, NDA, MOU, and related agreements.
• Support tendering, bid reviews, pre-contract assessments, and contract negotiations.
• Identify and mitigate contractual and commercial risks including payment terms, liquidated damages, variations, claims, EOTs, and termination provisions.
• Provide legal and contractual support to project, commercial, and engineering teams.
• Attend client meetings, project review meetings, commercial discussions, and contract negotiations.
• Ensure downstream contracts are aligned with upstream contractual obligations.
• Handle contractual correspondence, notices, claims, disputes, and risk registers.
• Coordinate with external law firms and counsel for arbitration, litigation, and specialized legal matters.
