BEST-FIT Recruitment Riders is seeking a Manager - Electrical & Instrumentation Projects for Saykha/Bharuch region. You will lead the E&I team, plan projects from conception to commissioning, and coordinate with QA/QC, EHS, and procurement to ensure safe and timely execution.

Responsibilities include maintenance planning, calibration management, and document control while ensuring compliance with IEC/IEEE standards and local regulations.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering is required.
• Diploma in Electrical/Instrumentation Engineering with strong relevant industrial experience may also be considered.
• Additional certifications in electrical safety, project management, energy management or industrial automation are advantageous.

Responsibilities

Purpose of Job: The E&I Projects Manager will be responsible for planning, execution, commissioning, maintenance, reliability, compliance and documentation of electrical and instrumentation systems across the plant. The position will lead the E&I team and coordinate with Projects, Production, QA/QC, EHS, Procurement, Vendors and Contractors to ensure safe, reliable and timely completion of projects and maintenance activities. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable statutory requirements, electrical safety regulations, hazardous-area requirements, ISO management systems and company engineering standards.

Role & responsibilities

1. E&I Project Planning & Execution:

• Plan, execute and monitor electrical and instrumentation projects from conceptualization through commissioning and handover.
• Prepare project schedules, manpower plans, material requirements and execution strategies.
• Review electrical and instrumentation design, engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, datasheets and technical documents.
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors and internal departments for timely project execution.
• Supervise installation, testing, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
• Ensure projects are completed within approved budget, timeline, quality and safety requirements.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor contractor performance and work quality.
• Review and approve relevant technical documents, drawings, method statements and commissioning procedures.
• Ensure proper project handover along with as-built drawings, manuals, test reports and other technical documentation.

2. E&I Team Leadership:

• Lead and supervise the E&I team, including engineers, technicians and contractors.
• Allocate jobs, assign responsibilities and monitor individual/team performance.
• Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to the E&I team.
• Develop manpower deployment plans according to project and maintenance requirements.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and identify training and competency-development requirements.
• Promote a strong culture of safety, discipline, teamwork and continuous improvement.

3. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

• Plan and oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Ensure minimum equipment downtime and quick restoration during electrical/instrumentation breakdowns.
• Monitor system performance, equipment health and reliability.
• Develop and periodically review preventive maintenance schedules.
• Analyse recurring failures and implement Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective/Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Ensure proper maintenance of electrical panels, MCCs, PCCs, transformers, DG systems, UPS, batteries, motors, drives, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, control valves, field instruments and associated systems.

4. Engineering Documentation & Controlled Documents

• Responsible for preparation, issuance, review and control of applicable E&I technical and maintenance documents, including:
• Analytical / technical protocols, wherever applicable.
• SOPs and work instructions.
• Equipment logbooks.
• Maintenance formats and checklists.
• Equipment and system specifications.
• Testing and commissioning protocols.
• Preventive Maintenance schedules.
• Calibration schedules.
• Training calendars and training records.
• Equipment history cards and maintenance records.
• Electrical and instrumentation drawings and documentation.
• As-built drawings and technical manuals.
• Ensure all documents are properly controlled, updated and readily available for audits and inspections.

5. Calibration & Instrumentation Management

• Develop and maintain the annual calibration schedule for critical instrumentation.
• Ensure timely calibration of process instruments, measuring instruments and control systems.
• Coordinate with approved external calibration agencies wherever required.
• Review calibration certificates and ensure traceability of measuring equipment.
• Monitor out-of-calibration conditions and initiate appropriate corrective actions.
• Maintain calibration records and documentation for statutory, quality and audit requirements.

6. SOP, ISO & Management-System Compliance

• Prepare, review and periodically update E&I-related SOPs, work instructions, formats and procedures.
• Support implementation and maintenance of: ISO 9001:2015-Quality Management System, ISO 14001:2015-Environmental Management System, ISO 45001:2018-Occupational Health & Safety Management System
• Ensure E&I documentation is compliant with applicable ISO requirements.
• Participate in internal and external audits and close audit observations within defined timelines.
• Ensure proper document control, record retention and traceability.

7. Statutory & Electrical Compliance

• Ensure compliance with applicable local electrical laws, statutory requirements and regulatory authorities.
• Ensure compliance with applicable electrical safety requirements and hazardous-area requirements.
• Maintain statutory electrical inspection and compliance records.
• Coordinate statutory inspections, testing and certification wherever applicable.
• Ensure electrical installations, equipment and systems are maintained in accordance with applicable standards.
• Ensure appropriate compliance with recognized engineering standards such as IEC, IEEE and relevant Indian Standards/IS requirements, as applicable.
• Maintain compliance documentation for audits and inspections.

8. Electrical Safety & Hazardous Area Management

• Implement safe working practices for electrical and instrumentation activities.
• Ensure compliance with electrical isolation, LOTO, PTW and other plant safety procedures.
• Ensure proper maintenance and inspection of electrical installations in hazardous areas.
• Participate in electrical safety audits, risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZID studies and other safety assessments as applicable.
• Identify electrical and instrumentation-related hazards and implement suitable control measures.
• Conduct/coordinate safety training and toolbox talks for E&I employees and contractors.
• Ensure proper PPE usage and safe working practices during E&I activities.

9. Power & Energy Management

• Prepare and maintain daily power consumption reports.
• Monitor plant-wise/area-wise electricity consumption and major electrical loads.
• Track energy consumption trends and identify abnormal consumption.
• Identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvement.
• Support energy audits and implementation of energy-saving projects.
• Monitor power factor, demand, load utilization and other relevant electrical parameters.
• Prepare periodic energy-performance reports for management review.

10. Monitoring, Reporting & MIS

• Maintain daily E&I maintenance and project logs.
• Prepare daily/weekly/monthly maintenance reports.
• Track equipment breakdowns and downtime.
• Prepare breakdown analysis and reliability reports.
• Monitor PM compliance and pending maintenance activities.
• Prepare project progress reports and highlight delays, risks and critical issues.
• Maintain KPI/MIS reports related to E&I maintenance, projects, energy consumption and equipment reliability.

11. Inventory & Spare Parts Management

• Maintain adequate inventory of critical electrical and instrumentation spare parts.
• Identify critical and insurance spares based on equipment criticality and failure history.
• Monitor minimum/maximum stock levels.
• Raise purchase/requisition requests for required materials and spares.
• Coordinate with Procurement and Stores for timely availability of critical components.
• Review technical specifications of electrical and instrumentation materials before procurement.
• Control obsolete and slow-moving spares and optimize inventory costs.

12. Budget & Cost Management

• Prepare and manage the E&I departmental/project budget.
• Monitor maintenance and project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Control maintenance costs without compromising safety, quality and reliability.
• Optimize manpower, contractor utilization, materials and resources.
• Identify cost-saving and value-engineering opportunities.
• Support procurement of electrical and instrumentation equipment, systems, services and spares.
• Evaluate technical quotations and participate in vendor/contractor technical discussions.

13. Technical Documentation & Records

• Maintain updated electrical and instrumentation drawings, layouts, schematics, datasheets and technical records.
• Ensure availability of equipment manuals, test reports, calibration certificates and commissioning records.
• Maintain proper records of maintenance, breakdowns, modifications and project activities.
• Ensure all modifications are properly documented through approved change-control procedures.
• Prepare technical reports for management, audits and statutory inspections.

14. Reliability & Continuous Improvement

• Drive improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and plant availability.
• Conduct RCA for major and repetitive electrical/instrumentation failures.
• Identify opportunities for automation, instrumentation improvement and process optimization.
• Evaluate obsolete equipment and recommend replacement/upgrade strategies.
• Implement condition-monitoring and predictive-maintenance practices wherever feasible.
• Benchmark maintenance practices and introduce best engineering practices.

Preferred candidate profile

• B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering / Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation Engineering.
• Diploma in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering with strong relevant industrial experience may also be considered.
• Additional certification in electrical safety, project management, energy management or industrial automation will be an advantage.
• 815 years of relevant experience in Electrical & Instrumentation Engineering, Projects and Maintenance.
• Preference for candidates with experience in chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, API, manufacturing or process industries.
• Experience in plant/project execution, commissioning and maintenance is preferred.
• Experience in handling E&I contractors, vendors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems is preferred.
• Experience in hazardous-area installations and statutory electrical compliance will be an added advantage.

The candidate should preferably have hands-on experience with some/all of the following:

• HT/LT electrical systems, Transformers, HT/LT Panels, PCC, MCC and distribution systems
• DG Sets and synchronization systems, UPS and battery systems, PLC / DCS / SCADA systems
• Motors and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Industrial instrumentation and control systems
• Control valves and actuators, Process transmitters and analyzers
• Fire & Gas systems, wherever applicable
• Earthing and lightning protection systems
