Job summary

Zoom Communications in India is seeking a logistics professional to manage the end-to-end import operations for complex projects. You will plan shipments, coordinate with overseas suppliers and freight forwarders, and ensure timely delivery with minimal dwell time.

You will handle custom clearance and regulatory compliance, assess HS codes and duties, and negotiate freight rates. Strong stakeholder management with OEM, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse and Vendors is essential to align schedules

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Import Operations: manage import lifecycle from shipment planning to final delivery.
• Custom Clearance & Regulatory Compliance: prepare and file import docs; ensure DGFT/Customs/RBI compliance.
• Freight Procurement & Cost Optimization: negotiate rates; audit invoices; analyze logistics costs.
• Stakeholder Management: coordinate with OEM, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse and Vendors; resolve escalations.

Job description

Key Responsibility Areas

1. End-to-End Import Operations

• Manage the complete import lifecycle from shipment planning, supplier coordination, freight booking, documentation, customs clearance, and final delivery.
• Ensure timely clearance of shipments with minimum airport or port dwell time while avoiding demurrage, detention, and storage charges.
• Coordinate effectively with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, Customs House Agents (CHAs), logistics partners, transporters, and internal project teams.
• Monitor shipment milestones proactively and ensure adherence to committed delivery schedules.

2. Custom Clearance & Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure accurate preparation, verification, and timely filing of import documentation
• Ensure correct HS Code classification and customs valuation in accordance with applicable customs regulations.
• Handle customs assessments, examinations, queries, and documentation requirements with customs authorities and CHAs.
• Ensure full compliance with DGFT, Customs, RBI, and other statutory regulations governing imports.

3. Freight Procurement & Cost Optimization

• Evaluate and negotiate competitive freight rates across multiple freight forwarders.
• Benchmark rates periodically to achieve the most cost-effective logistics solutions without compromising service quality.
• Develop long-term relationships with logistics partners for improved commercial terms and service levels.
• Conduct detailed verification and audit of freight invoices before payment.
• Generate periodic logistics cost analysis reports and recommend cost optimization initiatives.

4. Stakeholder Management

• Collaborate closely with - OEM, Engineering, Finance, Warehouse and Vendors
• Ensure alignment between shipment schedules and project execution timelines.
• Resolve shipment-related escalations promptly and minimize business disruptions.
