Job summary

CanKids KidsCan is seeking a proactive Manager – Events to lead planning, execution, and expansion of fundraising and community engagement initiatives across major sports events. Founded in 2004 by Poonam Bagai, herself a cancer survivor, CanKids KidsCan, the National Society for Change For Childhood Cancer In India partners with hospitals, medical professionals, and state governments to enable access and best standards of treatment, care and support across 60 cities and 22 states of India.

Catering to childhood cancer patients from primarily underprivileged families, CanKids is present in 141 hospitals across India. Through our signature programYANA (You Are Not Alone)– CanKids provides medical, drugs & diagnostics support, accommodation through Home Away from Homes, , patient transport, blood support, nutrition & rations, education and counselling support.

Job Description
Summary

We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Manager – Events to spearhead the planning, execution, and strategic expansion of CanKids' fundraising and community engagement initiatives. This pivotal role encompasses the full lifecycle of major sporting events, including the Tata Mumbai Marathon, Vedanta Delhi Half Marathon, and Cycle for Gold, as well as other strategic campaigns. The successful candidate will oversee end-to-end event management, from initial concept and budgeting to participant engagement, partnership development, logistical coordination, and post-event analysis. The ideal professional will excel in managing diverse stakeholders, navigating tight deadlines, and traveling to various locations to ensure seamless on-ground operations.

Responsibilities
  • Event Planning and Execution: Lead the conceptualization and delivery of fundraising events, creating comprehensive plans, timelines, budgets, and task trackers. Manage all pre-event, during-event, and post-event activities to ensure a smooth participant experience, effective branding, and efficient logistics. Proactively identify risks and establish contingency protocols.
  • Fundraising and Revenue Strategy: Design and implement fundraising strategies tied to specific events, setting and monitoring targets to drive participant fundraising and donor engagement. Identify and secure sponsorship opportunities, corporate partnerships, and in-kind support while preparing compelling proposals and maintaining performance tracking.
  • Community and Participant Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with runners, cyclists, clubs, and corporate partners. Develop targeted initiatives to boost participation and foster long-term ambassadorship among supporters, ensuring they remain engaged before, during, and after events.
  • Stakeholder and Vendor Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between event organizers, sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and internal departments such as Communications, Finance, and Programs. Negotiate vendor contracts to ensure timely delivery of services and high-quality outcomes.
  • Campaign and Communications Collaboration: Partner closely with the marketing and communications teams to align event campaigns with the organization's brand and mission. Assist in developing communication calendars, digital content, social media strategies, and fundraising toolkits.
  • Monitoring, Reporting, and Analysis: Track key performance indicators including registrations, fundraising totals, sponsorship revenue, and expenditures. Maintain accurate databases and documentation, producing detailed post-event reports and impact presentations that capture learnings and drive continuous improvement.
