Job summary

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. is seeking a senior Demand & Supply Planner in Maharashtra to manage spare parts forecasting, inventory control, and replenishment planning across channels.

You will build forecast models, set inventory targets, and work with sourcing to optimize stock levels. The role requires 10–12 years of experience in demand and supply planning, with knowledge of SAP APO and JDA/Blue Yonder tools.

Qualifications

• 10–12 years in demand and supply planning with spare parts focus.
• BE/BTech in operations or supply chain; MS/ME/MBA preferred.
• Knowledge of SAP MM/APO and Blue Yonder/JDA Demand 360.

Responsibilities

• Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels for various horizons.
• Review historical trends, research demand drivers, and prepare forecast data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure forecast inputs are accurate.
• Set inventory targets and optimize stock across distribution centers.
• Develop inventory models for cycle, safety, and pipeline stock.
• Provide inputs to sourcing on inventory strategies for items.
• Create replenishment plans to schedule POs and improve parts availability.
• Anticipate variations to prevent stockouts and overstock.
• Maintain planning systems and monitor day-to-day activities.
• Estimate spare parts demand for new and existing models.
• Apply PDCA to monitor KPIs and close gaps.

This Demand & Supply Planning position is responsible for all spare parts forecasting, inventory management, and replenishment planning activities associated with customers and products. The Demand & Supply Planner creates forecast models, establishes inventory policies, estimate spare parts demand for new and existing models to support capacity planning and creates replenishment plans for spare parts management across key business sectors and sales channels.

• Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons as part of a demand planning function.
• Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
• Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with relevant stakeholders to ensure accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
• Establish inventory targets for demand fulfilment and determine optimal stock levels across central distribution centres and regional warehouses
• Develop inventory control models to allocate and position optimal levels of cycle, safety, and pipeline inventory within the entire distribution network.
• Provide inputs to the Sourcing organization in developing inventory strategies on existing items, new products, and product phase-outs.
• Create replenishment plans for timely scheduling of purchase orders on supplier base to continuously improve parts availability for customer service.
• Anticipate demand and supply variations to proactively manage parts availability to prevent stockout and overstock situations
• Maintain demand & supply planning system and software to seamlessly implement day-to-day planning, executing, and monitoring activities.
• Estimate spare parts demand for new and existing models to support capacity planning
• PDCA for ensuring monitoring KPI’s, Root Cause Analysis on gaps observed and effective actions to close gaps and improve results further.

Education Qualification

Bachelor of Engineering

General Experience

Minimum 10-12 years of relevant work experience in Demand & Supply planning methods. Knowledge and experience in spare parts management would be a plus. Minimum B.Tech/BE degree in operations management, supply chain management, industrial engineering, material management, or a related field. MS/ME/MBA with focus on operations & supply chain management would be preferred.

Critical Experience

Systems/ SAP knowledge:

Blue Yonder/JDA Software Solutions - Working knowledge of Demand 360, Inventory Optimization, & Fulfilment modules

SAP – Materials Management (MM), Advanced Planning & Optimization (APO)

Any Additional Knowledge:

Professional certifications like CPIM and/or CSCP would be desirable.

Skill Set:

Leadership Skills- Exposure to leading team and executing supply chain improvement projects across different functions within the supply chain organization.

Communication Skills – Strong ability to verbalize business requirements, achieve consensus, and align business processes across multiple business functions

Presentation Skills – Preparing presentation slides for various reviews and meetings.

Analytical Skills – To manage, analyse data and derive conclusions to make effective decisions.

SQL/Python Coding in addition to above skills- would be preferred.
