Job summary

Welspun World seeks an Assistant Manager – Demand Planning to lead forecast development, analyze trends, and optimize inventory across multi-channel SKUs. You will create accurate forecasts at SKU, category, channel and regional levels and support S&OP with cross-functional partners.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in demand planning, advanced Excel, and ERP/planning system experience (SAP, SAP IBP, APO, Oracle, Blue Yonder or Kinaxis). Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Assistant Manager Demand Planning

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Assistant Manager – Demand Planning to support the organization's demand forecasting and planning processes. The role will be responsible for developing accurate demand forecasts, analyzing business trends, driving inventory optimization, and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to support business growth and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate should possess strong demand planning expertise, advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities, and the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data sets across a multi-channel and multi-SKU product portfolio. This role requires a proactive individual who can effectively balance demand and supply considerations while contributing to the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process.

Key Responsibilities

Demand Forecasting & Planning

• Develop and maintain accurate demand forecasts at SKU, category, channel, customer, and regional levels.
• Analyze historical sales data, market trends, seasonality, promotional activities, customer demand patterns, and business inputs to generate robust demand plans.
• Continuously monitor forecast performance and identify opportunities to improve forecast accuracy and reduce forecast bias.
• Conduct root cause analysis for forecast deviations and implement corrective actions.
• Support demand planning activities for new product launches, product transitions, and product discontinuations.

Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP)

• Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Planning, Procurement, and Operations teams to develop consensus demand plans.
• Participate in monthly S&OP reviews and provide insights on demand trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure alignment between demand forecasts, business objectives, and operational capabilities.
• Support business decision-making through data-driven demand insights and recommendations.

Inventory Optimization & Supply Coordination

• Partner with Supply Planning and Procurement teams to ensure optimal inventory levels and product availability.
• Monitor inventory health and recommend actions to minimize stock-outs, excess inventory, and slow-moving inventory.
• Identify potential supply-demand imbalances and proactively recommend mitigation plans.
• Support working capital optimization initiatives through effective inventory planning.

Analytics & Business Insights

• Analyze complex datasets to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and actionable business insights.
• Develop and maintain planning reports, dashboards, and KPI trackers.
• Present forecast assumptions, performance metrics, and business recommendations to stakeholders.
• Drive data-based decision-making through effective reporting and analysis.

Process Improvement

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance forecasting accuracy, planning efficiency, and process standardization.
• Support automation and digitization initiatives within the planning function.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data and planning inputs.
• Leverage analytical tools and technology to improve planning effectiveness.

Mandatory Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in Demand Planning, Supply Chain Planning, Forecasting, or a related field.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data sets and large-scale multi-channel, multi-SKU product portfolios.
• Experience working with ERP and planning systems such as SAP, SAP IBP, SAP APO, Oracle, Blue Yonder, Kinaxis, or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of demand forecasting methodologies, inventory management principles, and S&OP processes.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
