Job summary

GMR Group in India is seeking a Civil Engineering professional to lead the Civil and Infrastructure department and supervise execution of civil construction works for power plant projects, ensuring quality, safety and cost targets are met.

The role involves coordinating with Planning, Procurement, HR, O&M and other functions, reviewing plans, preparing BOQ, SOW, and cost estimates, and ensuring compliance with IMS/ISO standards and regulations on site.

Qualifications

Experience in civil project management and site execution.
Strong planning and scheduling capabilities.

Familiarity with SAP and MS Office.

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise civil works to ensure site activities align with the project plan.
Coordinate with procurement to select subcontractors and vendors.
Lead cross-functional teams including Planning, HR, O&M to achieve integrated project delivery.
Prepare BOQ, SOW, specifications and cost estimates.
Review progress reports and monitor timelines, budgets, and quality.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental norms.
Approve payment certificates and manage contract administration.
Ensure adherence to IMS/ISO standards and government norms.
Monitor risk and implement CAPA as needed.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE

Managing Civil and Infrastructure department and Responsible for Execution of the various civil construction works as per the agreed design and cost parameters. Responsible for ensuring all resources for the project available as per Plan to meet deadline s and to ensure quality and safety standards maintained while achieving time and cost targets fixed for effective Operation and Maintenance of Power plant.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Responsibilities

Participate in project/Civil works planning and strategic discussions on the project/Works. To discuss the overall plan with the Department Head to ensure complete understanding. To ensure that the work undertaken at Site is as per the plan. To provide inputs in reviewing plans & communicating the reviewed plans, if any to all stakeholder To adhere to the provisions of the cost estimates for the
project/work.
Working with Procurement team to selects the subcontractors, vendors and workers, and provides required explanations for the architect and other professionals associated with the project, coordinating and collaborating with the Consultants, Engineers and Specialists.
Takes the initiative in working with all departments including Planning, procurement, HR, O&M, Electrical CR, finance and accounting and other services required to be performed for the project/civil works to achieve an integrated project team approach to the work.
Quantity Survey, measurement, certification of contractors / vendors bills, and approves the payment as per the contract. Team management
Adherence to HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) statutes and norms as per business excellence, IMS ISO etc. Adhering to Government and Municipal rules and norms during Project execution.
Skill in leading & guiding other employees in following EHS guidelines
Knowledge of IMS and other standards, adherence to safety and environment norms as applicable.
Ability to understand and perform the Permit To Work system requirements
Conversant with Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Aspect Impact assessment methodology
Conversant with preparation of Safe operating procedures, Safe maintenance procedures
Review & monitoring of: Daily, weekly & monthly progress reports of the department functioning. Planning of AMC resources and its monitoring. Preparation of BOQ, SOW, specifications and cost estimation for work.

EXTERNAL INTERACTIONS

Interaction with all executing agencies for resource planning aligned with the requirements/targets.
Coordination with consultants and venders for obtaining

Interaction with suppliers jointly with procurement department in finalizing the requirement.
Interaction with villagers and project affected people in peripheral development works.

INTERNAL INTERACTIONS

Interact with department Head on a regular basis to understand the priorities and work accordingly.
Interaction with other functional heads to facilitate their needs.
Interaction with other plants of similar nature inside the group in case of any clarifications.

Worked in the project with Civil & Interior project works Capex up to 40.00 Cr

OTHER DIMENSIONS

Knowledge of SAP, MS Office

Review of drawings and able to figure out the BOQ requirement & quantifications.

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS

BE/B.Tech degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
