Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking a Senior Supplier Engineer to provide technical guidance to suppliers, review capabilities, and drive preventive actions across forging, casting, machining, heat treatment and other processes for powertrain components. You will lead APQP deliverables, PFMEA, Control Plans, and DOE studies to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers for product and process-related issues.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes, process capability, and quality systems.
  • Identify potential technical risks and drive preventive actions at supplier end.
  • Support suppliers in achieving required product quality, reliability, and delivery targets.
  • Participate in new product development activities from concept/design freeze through SOP.
  • Review and approve supplier APQP deliverables, including PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow, MSA, SPC and capability studies.
  • Ensure compliance with drawing, GD&T, material, heat treatment, and special-process requirements.
  • Support PPAP/PTR activities and ensure timely closure of development-related issues.
  • Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes for forging, casting, machining, heat treatment, grinding, balancing, surface treatment and other special processes as applicable.
  • Conduct process audits and identify gaps related to process robustness and product quality.
  • Drive implementation of poka-yoke, automation, error-proofing and process controls.
  • Review critical process parameters and ensure adequate monitoring and control.
  • Lead technical investigation of supplier quality issues and customer/field complaints.
  • Drive structured problem-solving using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone, DOE and other appropriate methodologies.
  • Analyze dimensional, metallurgical, material and functional failures.
  • Coordinate root-cause analysis through component inspection, cut-section analysis, metallurgical analysis and laboratory validation.
  • Ensure effective corrective and preventive actions and verify their effectiveness.
  • Crankshaft: Forging/casting, heat treatment, machining, grinding, balancing, hardness, fatigue-related characteristics and dimensional accuracy.
  • Connecting Rod: Forging, machining, heat treatment, fracture splitting/cracking, big-end/small-end geometry, weight matching and dimensional controls.
  • Camshaft: Casting/forging, machining, heat treatment, grinding, lobe profile, hardness, runout and surface-finish requirements.
  • Engine Gears: Forging/machining, heat treatment, gear geometry, profile/lead, hardness, case depth, runout, noise and durability-related characteristics.
  • Engine Proprietary Parts: Technical assessment, supplier process validation, special-process control, functional validation and issue resolution for proprietary engine components
  • Conduct supplier process audits, product audits and special-process assessments.
  • Identify CTQ/CTF characteristics and establish appropriate process controls.
  • Assess supplier risks during new product introduction, capacity enhancement and engineering changes.
  • Support supplier selection, development and technical capability assessment
  • Work closely with Design, R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Purchase, Logistics and Supplier teams.
  • Participate in technical reviews with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate engineering changes, deviations and concessions from the technical perspective.
  • Support resolution of critical supplier issues affecting production and customer requirements
