Job summary

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) invites an experienced Alumni Engagement Lead to drive engagement across its global alumni community from Visakhapatnam. You will build chapters, coordinate events such as Homecomings, and oversee communications through the Directorate.

The role requires strong relationship-building, data-driven reporting, and team mentoring to deliver measurable outcomes and ensure governance compliance across chapters and activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience in alumni relations or program management.
• Proven ability to build relationships with senior alumni and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated track record converting relationships into measurable outcomes.
• Experience coordinating a team and managing multiple stakeholders/workstreams.
• Comfort with data, metrics, and reporting to demonstrate outcomes.
• Strong organizational skills and ownership of outcomes.
• Prior involvement in higher education alumni, corporate relations or events is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive alumni engagement across GITAM's alumni geographies, building and maintaining relationships with the alumni community.
• Build and strengthen GITAM Alumni Association chapters across India and international geographies, supporting chapter formation, leadership onboarding, executive committee set-up, and governance compliance, and serving as the single point of coordination for chapter activities.
• Plan and deliver signature alumni events, including Homecoming, reunions, and regional meets, confirming that internal plans are firm before alumni commitments are made and coordinating stakeholders for smooth execution.
• Oversee alumni communication across email, WhatsApp, and the alumni newsletter, ensuring that all alumni communication is routed and approved through the Directorate.
• Track alumni achievements across public and social channels to identify candidates for recognition, and run the Distinguished Alumni Awards cycle, including award presentations at campus Homecomings.
• Oversee the alumni merchandise program, including the design, sourcing, and availability of GITAM alumni merchandise.
• Develop dashboards and regular reports covering metrics such as active alumni participation, chapter health, event participation, volunteerism, mentoring, student opportunities generated, and other measurable outcomes.
• Mentor the alumni engagement team and drive continuous improvement of engagement processes and turnaround times.
• Audit engagement and event outcomes, and collaborate with internal academic and functional stakeholders to align priorities and ensure effective execution.

Preferred candidate profile :

1. 1. Bachelor's degree with 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in alumni relations, program management, community engagement, or stakeholder engagement.
2. 2. Strong written and spoken communication, with the ability to represent the university to senior alumni and external stakeholders.
3. 3. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and convert them into measurable outcomes over time.
4. 4. Experience coordinating a team and managing multiple stakeholders and workstreams.
5. 5. Comfort working with data, metrics, and reporting to track and demonstrate outcomes.
6. 6. Strong organizational skills and the ability to own outcomes independently.
7. 7. Prior experience in higher education, alumni or corporate relations, or events is preferred.
