Job summary

Fountainhead School invites applications for a DP Makerspace Coach to ignite innovation and hands-on learning within the IB Diploma Programme. The role centers on facilitating the makerspace to enable interdisciplinary inquiry, prototyping, and creative problem solving.

You will train students and staff in 3D printing, laser cutting, electronics kits, and CAD tools, collaborate with teachers, and organize workshops and exhibitions that showcase student work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Design, Technology, or a related field.
• Experience in a makerspace, innovation lab, or STEM/STEAM environment.
• Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is preferred.
• Proficiency with 3D printing, laser cutting, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, coding (Python/Scratch), and CAD tools (Fusion 360, Tinkercad).

Responsibilities

• Plan and facilitate makerspace sessions aligned with IB DP philosophy and interdisciplinary learning goals.
• Support students in developing projects for IA, EE, and CAS where applicable.
• Encourage creativity, innovation, and problem-solving through design thinking and project-based learning.
• Train students and staff in the safe and effective use of makerspace tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics kits, and prototyping tools.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to integrate makerspace activities into the DP curriculum.
• Foster a culture of experimentation, collaboration, and reflective learning.
• Manage day-to-day makerspace operations, including inventory, maintenance, and safety protocols.
• Organize workshops, exhibitions, and innovation challenges to showcase student work.
• Assist students in documenting their design process and reflecting on their learning journey.

The ideal candidate will inspire innovation, design thinking, and hands‑on learning by facilitating the effective use of the makerspace. The role focuses on enabling students to explore, prototype, and apply interdisciplinary knowledge through inquiry‑based and experiential learning, aligned with the IB philosophy.

Key Responsibilities

• Encourage creativity, innovation, and problem‑solving through design thinking and project‑based learning.
• Train students and staff in the safe and effective use of makerspace tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, electronics kits, and prototyping tools.
• Collaborate with subject teachers to integrate makerspace activities into the DP curriculum.

• Familiarity with the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is preferred.
• Proficiency in tools such as:
• 3D printing and laser cutting
• Arduino
• Raspberry Pi
• Coding (Python, Scratch, or similar)
• CAD software (Fusion 360, Tinkercad, etc.)

Skills and Competencies

• Strong facilitation, mentoring, and communication skills.
