Job summary

Align Technology, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join the Operations team at the APAC-India IT Delivery Center in Hyderabad.

You will drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, enhance equipment reliability, and reduce downtime through proactive planning and expert technical support. You will collaborate across maintenance, automation, and operations to implement improvements, train staff, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
• At least 3 years in Maintenance Engineering with reliability-focused planning.
• Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Experience with CMMS and maintenance planning processes.
• Familiarity with industrial mechanical and electrical systems, automation, robotics.
• Proficient English communication; teamwork across teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop preventive maintenance methodologies and create PM work orders to support equipment reliability.
• Define maintenance scope, planning requirements, and scheduling activities for maintenance programs.
• Serve as SME in designated maintenance areas.
• Develop technical training plans and support capability development within maintenance organization.
• Collaborate with Technician Supervisors to support training initiatives and daily operational activities.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance Planners to improve maintenance effectiveness.
• Conduct equipment quality audits to identify maintenance requirements and job scope details.
• Estimate labour requirements, work hours, and total durations for maintenance activities.
• Plan spare parts, materials, and resources to maximize technician productivity and equipment reliability.
• Utilize RCA, Failure Analysis, and FMEA methodologies to prevent equipment failures.
• Analyse recurring equipment failures and develop engineering solutions to improve reliability.
• Implement engineering solutions addressing capacity, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance challenges.
• Ensure maintenance work orders are accurately generated, tracked, and closed within CMMS systems.
• Validate equipment information and prepare complete job packages for maintenance technicians.
• Communicate critical maintenance process steps and technical requirements to maintenance teams.
• Collect and maintain engineering drawings, technical documentation, and equipment specifications.
• Analyse downtime trends and identify opportunities for performance improvement.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Managers, Technicians, and Automation Engineers to optimize maintenance procedures.

Description

This position is ideal for maintenance engineering professionals to join the Maintenance team as a Maintenance Engineer, supporting the development and execution of proactive maintenance strategies across manufacturing operations. Partnering with Maintenance Management, Technician Supervisors, Automation Engineers, Maintenance Planners, and Operations teams, you’ll drive preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability initiatives, and downtime reduction activities. This role is critical in improving equipment performance, enhancing operational efficiency, and ensuring uninterrupted production through effective maintenance planning and engineering support.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop preventive maintenance methodologies and create preventive maintenance work orderprograms to support equipment reliability.
• Define maintenance scope, planning requirements, and scheduling activities for maintenanceprograms.
• Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) within designated maintenance areas.
• Develop technical training plans and support capability development within the maintenanceorganization.
• Collaborate with Technician Supervisors to support training initiatives and daily operationalactivities.
• Provide technical support to Maintenance Technical Planners to improve maintenanceeffectiveness.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another related technical discipline from an accredited university.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience within a Maintenance Engineering environment. Experience working in a reliability-centred maintenance environment with hands-on maintenance planning and equipment reliability activities.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), industrial mechanical and electrical systems, automation, controls, robotics systems, equipment reliability, Root Cause Analysis, and FMEA.
• Communication: Proficient English communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical requirements, maintenance plans, and operational recommendations across teams.
• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance, automation, engineering, and operations teams while coaching and mentoring engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
