Overview

The shop operations manager is responsible for the management and integration of shop activities in line with ISO:9001 and ISO:19443, following the SQDC approach to ensure that quality products are delivered as required by the business.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate shop activities to achieve zero deviation in safety and quality.
• Ensure alignment of stakeholders to meet on‑time delivery (OTD) and shop utilisation targets.
• Drive awareness of nuclear safety culture on the shop floor.
• Perform daily plant operations to ensure reliability and consistency on the production line.
• Plan and execute departmental operations with a focus on maximizing efficiency and minimizing delays.
• Lead and coach team members positively to maximise their potential and contributions to key performance goals.
• Assist in production scheduling to optimise utilisation of equipment and people.
• Create awareness for stop‑work and quality concerns on small deviations.
• Collaborate with Process Engineers to improve current manufacturing processes and new projects.
• Identify training needs based on skill assessment and upcoming project requirements.
• Control, organise and monitor production operations, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
• Develop recovery plans for delays and ensure agreed targets are achieved.
• Allocate resources to deploy Lean concepts, make problems visible and enable problem‑solving.
• Guide the team to develop and execute objectives aligned with short‑term and long‑term business goals.
• Mobilise onsite support and new development when required.
• Ensure EHS and 5S standards are met in the shop area.
• Manage execution cost comparing estimate versus actual.
• Participate in FMEA meetings and mitigate risks before process execution.

Basic Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• MBA in Operations preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in machine shop and assembly shop environments.
• Strong proficiency with SAP and Microsoft Office tools.
