Job description

Purpose of the Role:

To ensure achievement of SQPDCME (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Delivery, Cost, Morale & Environment) targets at line and Self-Directed Team (SDT) level. The role is responsible for production execution, line readiness, quality, productivity, manpower capability, safety, cost management and continuous improvement, while ensuring effective shop-floor execution and operator development.

Job Responsibilities
Production Planning & Execution
  • Ensure production as per plan, sequence and priority while achieving HPeV, MOP and JPH targets.
  • Ensure readiness of tools, equipment, materials and trained manpower.
  • Coordinate with Technical Services, Maintenance, Supply Chain, Stores and PPC for uninterrupted production.
  • Monitor line performance and address operational constraints.
New Product Introduction & Line Readiness
  • Drive station-level readiness as per defined checklists and NPI requirements.
  • Coordinate machine, equipment and tooling readiness for new product trials.
  • Identify line-level issues and drive timely corrective actions with relevant functions.
Quality Management
  • Drive resolution of daily process and product quality issues.
  • Execute corrective and preventive actions based on customer, warranty, audit and internal feedback.
  • Drive improvement in DRL, PDI, PQI, product/process audit and TCF DPV performance.
Productivity & Continuous Improvement
  • Identify and eliminate NVA/ENVA through line balancing, Kaizen, FPBP and other improvement initiatives.
  • Drive productivity improvement through material-flow optimisation, kitting and shop-floor improvements.
  • Coordinate with Logistics, Stores and support functions to ensure availability of tools and indirect materials.
  • Drive reduction in downtime and improvement in HPeV.
Manpower & Capability Development
  • Ensure adequate and trained manpower for production requirements.
  • Develop operator capabilities through skill, system and on-the-job training.
  • Lead SDTs and drive initiatives for productivity and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate with HR and SQPDCME teams to ensure training compliance and manpower readiness.
TPM & Shop Health Management
  • Drive TPM practices and equipment-care culture among operators.
  • Participate in cross-functional initiatives for improvement of rejection, warranty, IDM and tool costs.
  • Support initiatives for operational efficiency and shop health improvement.
Safety Management
  • Ensure implementation of safety standards and safe working practices in the assigned area.
  • Drive PPE compliance and safety awareness among permanent and temporary manpower.
  • Identify and mitigate shop-floor safety risks and ensure achievement of safety targets.
Cost & Business Improvement
  • Provide inputs for production and maintenance budgets and monitor key operating costs.
  • Drive initiatives for waste reduction, cost optimisation and value generation.
  • Participate in TCS, VAVE and other cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support achievement of WCQ and other business targets.
Qualification

B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical or relevant engineering discipline.

Desired Work Experience

3-10 years in shop-floor/shop-technology operations, including at least 3 years in relevant production operations. Strong manufacturing and shop-floor technical knowledge is essential.

Desired Industry and Sectors

Automotive, auto-component, vehicle assembly, production engineering or other high-volume discrete manufacturing environments.
