Job summary

Waaree Renewable Technologies in Goregaon (Mumbai) is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to own the Basis of Design and develop PFDs, heat and material balances, and P&IDs for electrolysis and synthesis loops across operating modes.

You will lead HAZOP/LOPA, relieve device sizing, and coordinate with multiple desks to ensure timely deliverables and strong technical governance through detailed engineering and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Own and issue Basis of Design, design basis memoranda, and design criteria for electrolysis, synthesis loop, and utility/BOP systems.
• Develop and approve PFDs, heat & material balances, and P&IDs across operating cases using Aspen Plus/HYSYS/PRO-II.
• Lead equipment sizing basis and datasheets for reactors, columns, heat exchangers, compressors, electrolyser stacks/BOP; issue for ME/PIPE detailed design.
• Define utility balance (power, cooling water, N, instrument air, steam) and interface needs for downstream disciplines.
• Own line sizing philosophy and issue line lists/line class assignment for PIPE; review piping GA/isometrics for process adequacy.
• Lead catalyst, chemical, and consumables selection and licensor interface for electrolyser/synthesis technologies.
• Lead HAZOP node walkthroughs as process discipline lead; ensure safeguards are technically sound.
• Own relief load calculation basis and coordinate PSV/relief device sizing and blowdown/flare header basis with PS and PIPE.
• Ensure HAZOP/LOPA findings are incorporated into design without dilution due to schedule pressure; escalate conflicts when needed.
• Support MOC technical evaluation for design changes during detailed engineering and site execution.
• Lead technical bid evaluation for major process packages and licensor/vendor interface; review guarantees and datasheets.
• Coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance test planning; input operating procedures.
• Supervise and mentor process engineers; review deliverables for technical adequacy prior to inter-discipline release.
• Interact with EE, PIPE, ME, C&I, PS, CV, and PROP desks per interface matrix; flag conflicts explicitly.
• Engage early with PROP desk for scope definition, technology input, and cost alignment during proposals.
• Maintain discipline document register and ensure timely issue of deliverables per IDC/IFR/IFC.

• Lead equipment sizing basis and datasheets for reactors, columns, heat exchangers, compressors, electrolyser stacks/BOP, and other process equipment; issue for ME/PIPE detailed design.
• Define utility consumption balance (power, cooling water, N, instrument air, steam) and interface requirements for downstream disciplines.
• Own line sizing philosophy and issue line lists/line class assignment basis for PIPE; review piping GA/isometrics for process adequacy.
• Lead catalyst, chemical, and consumables selection and specification, and technology licensor interface for electrolyser/synthesis technologies.

Process Safety & Relief Systems

• Lead HAZOP node walkthroughs as the process discipline lead, ensuring node boundaries, deviations, and causes are technically sound before PS finalizes safeguards.
• Own relief load calculation basis (blocked outlet, fire case, control valve failure, etc.) and coordinate PSV/relief device sizing and blowdown/flare header basis with PS and PIPE.
• Ensure PS findings and safeguard recommendations from HAZOP/LOPA are incorporated into the design without dilution due to schedule pressure, escalating conflicts rather than resolving unilaterally.

Vendor, Procurement & Commissioning Support

• Support MOC (Management of Change) technical evaluation for process design changes during detailed engineering and site execution.
• Lead technical bid evaluation (TBE) for major process packages (electrolyser, compressor, synthesis loop, purification systems) and licensor/package vendor engineering interface.
• Review vendor process guarantees, performance curves, and datasheets for compliance with the process design basis.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance guarantee test run planning, including start-up/operating procedures input.
• Supervise and mentor process engineers within the discipline; review deliverables for technical adequacy prior to inter-discipline issue.
• Coordinate proactively with EE, PIPE, ME, C&I, PS, CV and PROP desks per the defined interface matrix; flag numeric or scope conflicts explicitly rather than averaging or picking one silently.
• Engage early with the PROP desk for scope definition, technology selection input, and cost basis alignment during proposal stage.
• Maintain discipline document register and ensure timely issue of deliverables per project schedule (IDC/IFR/IFC).
