Job summary

Tech Mahindra in Hyderabad seeks a Lead Power BI Developer to own analytics for a large enterprise data quality and asset-management programme, designing robust semantic models and decision-ready dashboards.

You will lead a small BI team, set standards, govern workspaces and deployment pipelines, and collaborate with data engineers while exploring AI-assisted insights using Power BI Copilot and Fabric AI.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in BI/analytics with hands-on Power BI expertise (DAX, Power Query / M, data modelling).
• Strong semantic modelling (star schema) and performance-tuning skills.
• Solid SQL knowledge and data engineering collaboration.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small BI team and setting standards.

Were looking for a Lead Power BI Developer to own and elevate the analytics and reporting layer of a large enterprise data quality and asset-management programme for a leading global life sciences organization. You’ll set the BI standard across the programme – designing robust semantic models and compelling, decision-ready dashboards – and provide technical direction to a small team of BI developers.

What you’ll do

• Lead BI design & development – own the design, build and optimisation of Power BI dashboards and reports that turn complex, multi-source data into clear, decision-ready insight.
• Own the semantic model – star-schema design, DAX and Power Query / M, with a focus on performance, reusability, and maintainability.
• Translate needs into insight – turn business and stakeholder requirements into intuitive, self-service analytics.
• Set BI standards & governance – workspace structure, deployment pipelines, row-level security, version control and documentation.
• Lead the team technically – provide technical direction, code review and mentoring to a small team of BI developers / analysts.
• Make quality visible – build data-quality and asset-health dashboards that make issues visible and actionable.
• Partner with data engineering – consume curated / API-based data layers reliably and efficiently.
• Bring AI into analytics – leverage Power BI Copilot and Fabric AI to speed up development and enable natural-language, AI-assisted insight – smart narratives, anomaly detection and Q&A – for business users.
• Optimise for performance & cost – tune datasets, refresh, gateways, and capacity.

What you’ll bring

• ~7+ years in BI / analytics with deep, hands-on Power BI expertise (DAX, Power Query / M, data modelling).
• Strong semantic modelling (star schema) and performance-tuning skills.
• Solid SQL.
• Experience leading or mentoring a small BI team and setting standards.
• Power BI Service administration: workspaces, deployment pipelines, RLS, gateways.
• Excellent requirements-gathering and stakeholder-management skills.
• Hands-on with Power BI Copilot / Fabric AI and using GenAI to accelerate development.

Nice to have

• Microsoft certification (PL-300 / Fabric Analytics Engineer).
• Azure data stack / Microsoft Fabric (Synapse, Data Factory, Dataflows).
• Experience in regulated / GxP life sciences or pharmaceutical environments.
• Familiarity with data quality frameworks and data governance.
• Agile / SAFE delivery experience.
