Job Title: Lead - Learning and Development

Employment Type: Full‑Time

Role Summary

The Learning & Development (L&D) Lead will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing capacity‑building initiatives across Akshar Foundation. The role involves identifying training needs, developing learning programs, and fostering a culture of continuous development for employees, teachers, and community stakeholders. The L&D Lead will play a critical role in enhancing organizational effectiveness and ensuring that employees are equipped with the skills needed to deliver high‑quality outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Training Needs Assessment
    • Conduct training needs analysis across departments and program teams.
    • Identify skill gaps, competency requirements, and professional development needs.
    • Develop annual and quarterly L&D plans aligned with organizational goals.
  2. Program Design & Delivery
    • Design training modules, workshops, and e‑learning content tailored to diverse employee levels.
    • Deliver engaging training sessions using participatory and experiential learning methods.
    • Introduce innovative tools, digital platforms, and blended learning approaches.
    • Maintain close engagement with field teams to ensure training content remains responsive to on‑ground realities and implementation challenges.
    • Continuously refine training processes based on field feedback and program data to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Ensure the Akshar educational model is integrated across all training interventions, from induction to advanced capacity‑building programs.
  3. Capacity Building & Development
    • Build the capabilities of employees, teachers, and field teams through structured training programs.
    • Mentor and coach employees to strengthen leadership and soft skills.
    • Facilitate peer‑learning circles, cross‑team knowledge sharing, and continuous learning culture.
    • Mentor and develop the L&D team to deepen their understanding of the Akshar model and strengthen training design capabilities.
    • Guide team members in developing comprehensive training plans and facilitation strategies.
    • Provide structured feedback and coaching to improve training effectiveness and facilitation qual
  4. Monitoring & Evaluation of Training
    • Develop systems to assess training effectiveness and impact on performance.
    • Collect feedback from participants and managers to refine learning programs.
    • Maintain L&D dashboards, reports, and records for management review.
    • Partner with program teams, HR, and leadership to ensure training addresses organizational priorities.
    • Build relationships with external trainers, experts, and institutions to enhance L&D offerings.
  5. Strategic Development
    • Contribute to creating a long‑term L&D strategy for the organization.
    • Identify emerging trends and best practices in learning and apply them to Akshar Foundation’s context.
    • Strengthen succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Education, Organizational Development, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in L&D, training, or capacity building (preferably in NGO/education sector).
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering training programs.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, digital learning platforms, and instructional design.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of LMS/e‑learning tools is an advantage.
