Job description

About the client

Our client is an engineering-led consumer technology company that has grown into a ₹1,000 Cr+ business by rethinking everyday home products from first principles. What started with a better ceiling fan now spans fans, kitchen appliances, water purifiers, smart locks and more, all built on proprietary motor, electronics and algorithm technology developed in-house.

Having filed its DRHP, the company is now preparing to enter the public markets, and is building its investor relations function from the ground up.

Role Overview

As the company goes public, how the market values it will come down to three things: how clearly it tells its story, how consistently it delivers on what it commits, and whether the right long-term investors own its stock. The Lead – Investor Relations will own all three.

Working directly with the Founder & CEO and in close partnership with the CFO, you will take the company through its listing and build the IR function for its early years as a public company. You will own the equity story, the results cycle and the investor base, make sure every commitment to the market is tracked and met, and lead future capital raises. This is a rare chance to shape, from day one, how a newly listed company earns the market’s trust.

Key Responsibilities
1. Equity Story & Positioning:
  • – Own the investment thesis, investor presentation, fact sheet and Q&A bank, and keep them sharp as the company expands into new categories.
  • – Make the case for valuing the business as a technology-first consumer company, built on its in-house motor, electronics and algorithm IP, rather than as a traditional appliance maker.
  • – Benchmark how investors value the company against Indian and global peers.
2. IPO and Listing Readiness:
  • – Master the DRHP and become the internal authority on the company’s disclosures, numbers and narrative.
  • – Work with the CEO, CFO, bankers and counsel through the listing process, including investor education, roadshows and anchor investor engagement.
  • – Set up the IR function, calendar and playbook for life as a newly listed company.
3. Results, Guidance & Commitments:
  • – Run the quarterly results cycle with the CFO: investor presentation, press release, earnings call script and Q&A preparation.
  • – Shape the approach to guidance so the company sets expectations it can meet.
  • – Track every commitment made to the market (growth, margins, capacity, launch timelines) and work with business heads to deliver on it, flagging risks early.
4. Investor Base & Analyst Coverage:
  • – Identify and win long‑term domestic and global institutional investors.
  • – Run investor meetings, conferences, and plant and R&D visits for the CEO and CFO.
  • – Analyse the shareholder register regularly and engage holders before they act.
  • – Build and deepen sell‑side coverage, brief analysts, and check consensus against internal plans.
5. Capital Raises & M&A:
  • – Own future capital raises end to end, including QIPs, follow‑ons, preferential issues, block deals and orderly exits by pre‑IPO investors.
  • – Bring the investor’s view to acquisitions and investments, support valuation and diligence, and own how each deal is explained to the market.
6. Disclosure & Market Insight:
  • – Partner with the Company Secretary on SEBI LODR disclosures, insider trading rules and price‑sensitive communication.
  • – Prepare response plans for unexpected events.
  • – Report investor feedback and market sentiment to the CEO and Board every quarter.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • – MBA from a tier‑1 Indian institute (IIMs preferred); Chartered Accountants also considered.
  • – 8 to 14 years of experience and a minimum 4 years of hands‑on investor relations experience.
  • – Strong preference for IR experience at a listed company; exposure to a full listing journey (DRHP, IPO, post‑listing) is a clear advantage.
Sector Background:
  • – Open to candidates from any industry.
  • – Experience with institutional investors, sell‑side analysts and investment bankers is essential.
Key Competencies:
  • – High agency and ownership: takes charge of outcomes without waiting to be told.
  • – Comfortable with ambiguity, and energised by building a function from scratch.
  • – Humble and down to earth, with the credibility to represent the company to the market.
  • – Sharp storyteller and communicator, at ease with investors, analysts and the Board.
  • – Rigorous with disclosures, numbers and commitments.
