Job summary

Titan Engineering and Automation (TEAL) in India is seeking a senior cost engineer for aerospace CNC machining. You will lead time estimation, analyze RFQs, drawings, and specifications, and develop comprehensive process plans and cost models.

The role involves optimizing tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing routes across TC, VMC, 5-axis, EDM, and grinding processes. Ideal candidates have extensive CNC shop experience, strong costing expertise, and knowledge of aerospace materials and GD&T.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10–15 years or 5–10 years CNC machine shop experience with strong technical capabilities.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Project management experience.
• Knowledge of aerospace product development cycles and requirements.
• Strong costing and estimation know-how.
• Knowledge of machining processes, tooling, fixture design, material machinability.

Responsibilities

• Lead machining time estimation for aerospace and precision machined components.
• Analyse RFQs, drawings, specs, and manufacturing feasibility for accurate costing.
• Develop process plans and manufacturing routes, tooling & fixture requirements, cost optimization for CNC operations (TC, TMC, VMC, HMC, 5-axis, EDM, Grinding).
• Review drawings and BOMs to assess manufacturability and risks for quotations.
• Assess in-house capabilities and outsourcing needs for machining and testing.
• Maintain estimation databases, cost models, and historical costing records.

Role & responsibilities

Lead machining time estimation activities for aerospace and precision machined components. analysing customer RFQs,

engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing feasibility. Develop process plans and manufacturing routes,

tooling & fixture requirements, cost optimization for CNC machining operations TC, TMC, VMC, HMC, 5-Axis, EDM,Grinding etc.,

• Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, customer requirements to assess manufacturability, identify machining risks, and support accurate cost estimation.
• Analyse customer RFQs and consolidate all technical, quality, and commercial requirements for effective quotation preparation, Review BOMs and customer data packages.
• Evaluate machining processes, tooling, fixturing, inspection requirements, special processes, welding, NDT, testing, cleaning, and packaging requirements to develop comprehensive manufacturing cost estimates.
• Possess a strong understanding of raw material selection and maintain estimation databases, cost models, and historical costing records for accurate and consistent costing.
• knowledge of aerospace materials, like Titanium, Nickel Alloys, Inconel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminium Alloys, with an understanding of their machining characteristics.
• Assess in-house manufacturing capabilities and identify outsourcing requirements for machining, special processes, and testing activities.
• Develop manufacturing process flows and estimate operation-wise machining times for TC, VMC, 5-Axis, Grinding, etc,.
• AS9100 quality requirements and aerospace manufacturing standard
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and coordination skills to support estimation and business development activities.
• knowledge of MS office (excel), CAD/CAM and interested to work on excel.

Preferred candidate profile

Minimum 10-15 years/5-10 of CNC machine shop experience with strong technical capabilities (Must have)

• Having good knowledge of the product development cycles and requirement of aerospace industry.
• Good Knowledge on Costing & Estimation requirements.
• Machining Process, Tools, fixture, Material machinability, Material removal rates, special process, Inspection methodologies, Surface finish, GD&T requirements
• knowledge of MS office (excel) 3D CAD/CAM, SAP will be added advantage.
