Position Title: Lead – Engineering & Design (R&D)
Location: Pune
Role Overview
Lead the Engineering & Design function within Energy Solutions R&D. Drive system design, integration, customization, and engineering execution across Energy Verticals. Responsible for technical leadership, cost optimization, product compliance, design quality, and building a high‑performing R&D engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Capability Building: Direct and develop a functional engineering team of engineers across application engineering, design, and system integration disciplines.
- Product Customization & Value Engineering: Oversee solution engineering, localization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives without compromising quality or reliability.
- New Product Development (NPD): Drive structured design processes utilizing advanced quality planning and risk mitigation tools, including APQP, DFMEA, DFM, DFA, DVP&R, and Stage‑Gate frameworks.
- Technical Bid & Customer Solutioning: Deliver customized technical proposals, support commercial teams in complex customer bids/tenders, and translate customer requirements into baseline designs.
- System & Component Integration: Direct the selection, evaluation, and integration of core componentsincluding engines, alternators, cooling assemblies, exhaust systems, power electronics, controllers, and Electrical & Electronics (E&E) architectures.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure end‑to‑end design alignment with national and international regulatory, safety, environmental, quality, and industry‑specific standards.
- Specialized Domain Execution: Guide engineering teams on acoustic enclosures, noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) mitigation, anti‑vibration systems, corrosion prevention, and surface treatment/powder coating applications.
- Cross‑Functional Synergy: Partner closely with Product Management, Sales, Supply Chain, Quality, Manufacturing, and Field Service to enable seamless product delivery and full lifecycle support.
Qualifications
- Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related engineering discipline (M.Tech preferred).
- Total Experience: Atleast 15 years+ in Application Engineering, Product Engineering, Power Generation, Energy Storage, Railway Systems, or Heavy Industrial Equipment.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum 15 years in direct engineering team management.
- Technical Domain Expertise: Proven experience in Gensets, Railway DG Sets, BESS, Solar Photovoltaics, Hybrid Power Architectures, and Microgrid Integration.
