Lead Project Engineer – Critical Power Systems
Location: India
Employment Type: Permanent

The Lead Project Engineer will be part of the Front-End Engineering team, working closely with Engineering, Project Management, and other internal stakeholders to deliver technically sound solutions for complex and large-scale projects.

The role will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Power Supply and Critical Power Systems, providing technical guidance, solution development, and engineering expertise based on customer requirements, project specifications, quality standards, and commercial considerations.

The successful candidate will have strong knowledge of power systems, power protection solutions, and associated electrical infrastructure, with the ability to independently develop technical solutions for complex applications. The role will also involve mentoring engineers, reviewing technical designs, supporting project teams, and driving improvements to engineering processes and tools.

Key Responsibilities
Third-Party Supplier Management
  • Coordinate technical discussions and clarifications with third-party suppliers.
  • Review supplier technical submissions to ensure compliance with project and customer requirements.
  • Support the evaluation and resolution of technical issues involving external suppliers.
Technical Solution & Engineering Support

For technically demanding and complex projects, the Lead Project Engineer will provide specialist engineering support and typically:

  • Review customer specifications and identify critical or non-standard technical requirements.
  • Assist Design Engineers in evaluating customer technical comments and preparing appropriate responses.
  • Develop reliable and cost-effective engineering solutions while maintaining required quality standards.
  • Prepare project-specific technical documentation, including technical data, calculations, test documentation, and engineering reports.
  • Provide technical guidance on power protection, and associated electrical systems.
  • Support the development and integration of control and monitoring features where required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering tools, workflows, and processes.
  • Develop and maintain standardized engineering solutions for frequently executed project designs.
  • Prepare technical instructions and non-standard requirements for project documentation and manuals.
  • Support strategic projects during the quotation and proposal stage to ensure technically optimized and commercially viable solutions.
  • Participate in design review meetings and share technical knowledge and best practices with the engineering team.
  • Independently review complex engineering designs before final approval or escalation.
  • Review technical solutions prepared by Design Engineers prior to escalation to specialist engineering or R&D teams.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 6–12 years of experience within the electrical engineering, power systems, critical power, energy storage or related industry.
  • 3–5 years of experience leading or supervising a team of engineers.
  • Strong experience in independently developing electrical solutions for large-scale or technically complex projects.
  • Good understanding of power supply systems, power protection, electrical distribution, and critical power applications.
  • Experience working with electrical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Experience using EPLAN or similar electrical design software.
