Job summary

Valmet Corporation in Chennai, India, seeks a Lead Engineer Specialist, Plant Engineering for Pulp, Energy & Circularity. Base in Chennai to lead plant engineering activities for boiler and evaporator areas and coordinate with design teams.

You will model layouts, interface with COMOS and related tools, manage schedules, and ensure high-quality engineering outputs while mentoring engineers.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering graduate with 15-20 years in plant layout and boiler/evaporator detail engineering.
• Detail engineering knowledge of equipment, piping, ducting with experience in support engineering; knowledge of ASME/EN codes.
• Good knowledge of flexibility analysis.
• Experience leading Lead Engineers/Designers.
• Experience coordinating with shop, site, customer and other engineering units.

Responsibilities

• Develop and carry out engineering for plant engineering including layout, equipment, duct, piping, support engineering, and detailed design.
• Model boiler and evaporator areas with equipment, platforms, structures and related items considering operation and maintenance.
• Interface with COMOS, MFiles, AutoCAD, E3D, Navis, Caesar II, Rohr II, SolidWorks, PV Elite, LICAD, etc.
• Coordinate with shops, sites, customers and other engineering units to maintain schedule.
• Provide deliverables meeting the quality requirements.
• Manage and develop the reporting Lead Engineers/Engineers/Designers.

Lead Engineer Specialist, Plant Engineering for Pulp, Energy & Circularity Business Area (based in Chennai, India)

Are you the enthusiastic, self-driven and result-oriented professional who wants to move our customer’s performance forward by "Leading the way"? We are looking for "Lead Engineer Specialist, Plant Engineering" to be based in Chennai, India. This position reports to "Manager, Engineering, India". In this position you will have an opportunity to carry out all engineering activities associated with Plant Engineering for all kinds of projects and carry out Plant design modeling wherever required and to play a lead engineer role if nominated in coordinating, directing and carrying out all activities of engineering.

In this position, you will be required to:

• Develop and carry out engineering for plant engineering including layout, equipment, duct, piping, support engineering, detailed design and associated engineering calculations.
• To carry out basic modeling of Boiler & evaporator area consisting of various equipment, platforms, structures and other items considering various aspects such as operation, maintenance, access requirements, load data for structures, general arrangement drawings etc.
• To interface with COMOS, MFile etc.
• To coordinate with all agencies for receipt of inputs and maintain schedule.
• To provide deliverables meeting the quality requirements.
• Managing and development of the reporting Lead Engineers/Engineers/Designers.

To succeed in this role, you will need:

• Mechanical Engineering Graduate with 15 - 20 years of Experience Plant Layout, Concept, Basic and Detail engineering of Boiler & Evaporator area.
• Detail engineering knowledge of Equipment, Piping, Ducting along with experience in support engineering Good Knowledge of ASME and EN codes, strength calculation.
• Good Knowledge of flexibility analysis.
• Leading the team of Lead Engineers/Engineers / Designers.
• Coordinating with Shop, Site, Customer and other Engineering units.
• Exposure on software COMOS, M files, AutoCAD, E3D, Navis, Caesar II, Rohr II, Solid works, PV Elite LICAD etc.
• Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
