Job summary

BMW TechWorks India Pvt Ltd invites a Lead Engineer- Sensor to drive the sensorization of passenger car chassis systems. You will develop 3D CAD models, define packaging, and ensure integration with vehicle dynamics and control units across global programs.

The role requires 8–12 years in automotive sensor development, strong experience with CAN/CAN FD, vehicle dynamics, and cross-functional collaboration. English proficiency is essential; German is a plus. Pune-based on-site position.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years in automotive sensor development or chassis dynamics.
• Strong understanding of chassis electronic systems and vehicle dynamics functionality.
• Experience with OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers in chassis, sensor, or control system development.
• Knowledge of automotive product development processes, engineering release systems, and validation methodologies.
• Experience in cross-functional and global engineering environments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in English; German language skills would be an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Shape future BMW vehicle dynamics by CAD modelling and engineering execution of brake systems.
• Contribute to concept development, CAD engineering, packaging, system integration, validation, and industrialization of chassis sensing systems.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, drawings, and release docs for sensors and interfaces.
• Support complete component development from concept through series production.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics, Suspension, Brakes, Steering, ADAS, Functional Safety, and other teams.
• Ensure compliance with performance, safety, reliability, durability, cybersecurity, weight, cost, and manufacturing requirements.
• Support prototype builds, calibration activities, vehicle integration, testing, and engineering change management.

• You will shape the future BMW vehicles dynamics by bringing brake systems to life through precise CAD modelling, Concept and engineering execution.
• You will contribute to concept development, CAD engineering, packaging, system integration, validation, and industrialization of chassis sensing systems across global vehicle platforms.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, engineering drawings, and release documentation for chassis sensors, brackets, mounting systems, and sensor interfaces.
• Support complete component development from concept phase through series production.
• Collaborate with Vehicle Dynamics, Suspension, Brakes, Steering, ADAS, Functional Safety, E/E Architecture, Testing, Manufacturing, and Supplier Engineering teams.
