Job summary

SBM Offshore in Bangalore is seeking a Lead Structural Topsides Engineer to spearhead offshore design for FPSO topsides and related structures. The role emphasizes hands-on analysis, mentorship, and adherence to international codes in a dynamic EPC environment.

The candidate should have 15+ years of offshore Oil & Gas experience, with strong software proficiency in Sesam Genie, SACS, FEMAP, and STAAD-Pro, and a background in detailed engineering for offshore facilities.

Qualifications

Bachelor/Master of Technology in Civil/Structures, offshore structures preferred.
15+ years of offshore Oil & Gas experience with Concept/FEED/Detailed engineering.
Experience in detailed engineering of structural analysis for FPSO topsides modules.

Responsibilities

Lead structural engineering and greenfield design of offshore structures for primary/secondary/tertiary systems.
Hands-on design and analysis, mentoring engineers and designers.
Apply knowledge of international codes (BS, AISC, API, Eurocodes, DNVGL).
Develop local calculations using spreadsheets/Mathcad/scripting for Genie.
Plan project deliverables, scope, and resource allocation to meet milestones.
Communicate clearly with stakeholders; EPC project experience mandatory.

Job description:

The Discipline Lead Engineer's purpose is to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and safe engineering solutions that meet project objectives and contribute to the overall success and sustainability of the projects.

Responsibilities:

Primarily will have a major role in the structural engineering & greenfield design of offshore structures. Full knowledge in the analysis & design of the primary /secondary/tertiary for the full range of load conditions
Must be able to take a hands-on role in the design & analysis of structures as well as provide supervision/guidance to working engineers and designers in problem solving
Expert knowledge of applicable theories, practices, and accepted procedures. In depth knowledge with standard international specifications and codes i.e. British Standard codes, AISC codes, API, Euro codes, DNVGL etc.
Have experience & well versant in any of the software- Sesam Genie , FEMAP, STAAD-Pro, and SACS. Also, should have sound knowledge in developing the local calculations using spreadsheets/Mathcad/scripting for Genie etc.
Planning and implementation of the Project to ensure that deliverables are issued on schedule, project milestone dates are met, and given tasks are completed within the allowed budget; Preparation of scope of work, man-hours distribution; Selection of resources in consultation with head of discipline to meet the specific job requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Exposure to EPC environments & Experience in detailed Engineering projects is mandatory

Job requirements:

Academic: Bachelor/Master of Technology Civil/Structures (Preferably in Offshore structures)

Exp: 15+ years relevant experience in the offshore Oil & Gas industry (working with International Companies involved in Concept/FEED/Detailed engineering) with specific experience on Detail Engineering of Structural Analysis for Offshore Oil and Gas facilities Wellhead platforms, Fixed Process Platforms, FPSO topsides modules, Turret Mooring System, TLPs & Semi-submersibles
