Job summary

DAR Engineering seeks a highly experienced Lead Engineer / Manager - Electrical for its Chennai location within the Power Business Unit. The role demands steering the Electrical section of T&D projects from concept through construction, coordinating onshore and offshore designs with global partners and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with professional certifications/accreditations.
• 15+ years of experience in Electrical design and analysis of Power / Substation / Similar Industrial projects with team management experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage timely delivery of Electrical design meeting quality, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Oversee the design process/workflow to meet internal quality, execution, and project requirements.
• Implementation of QMS procedures in all stages of design development.
• Validate application of relevant PTS, Utility, and International Standards for a particular project.
• Motivate and encourage design and engineering team.
• Work with clients to ensure that their expectations are accomplished.
• Mentor the team for proper documentation of projects correspondence, documents and drawings in line with companys Document Management System.
• Engineering estimate and technical proposal for tendering/bidding process.
• Engage in continuous learning and keep updated with relevant standards, codes, and regulations for respective discipline works and project execution.
• Support Engineering Manager / Project Manager to monitor progress and budget by furnishing necessary inputs for respective section.
• Cooperate with other discipline and functional sections for day-to-day operations.
• Chair design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations.
• Identification of training needs for section team members and provide the details to the training department for their implementation.

Position Title: Section Manager - Electrical

Work Location: DLF, Chennai

Business Unit: Power Business Unit (PBU)

Experience: 18+ Years - Section Manager, 14 to 18 Years - Lead Engineer

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with professional certifications/accreditations.

Purpose

To lead, develop, direct, and organize Electrical section of T&D department in Power Business Unit (PBU). Lead the team in providing Electrical engineering design of T&D projects from initiation to closing ensuring delivery through onshore and offshore design teams and in coordination with third parties, international partners and/ or sub-contractors.

Key Skills

15+ years of experience in Electrical design and analysis of Power / Substation / Similar Industrial projects along with team management experience or traits preferably with exposure in the Gulf Region project.

Job Description

Skills Required

• Good know how on design of electrical systems for LV/ MV/ HV/ EHV substations from concept design to construction drawings. Working knowledge on T&D functions w.r.t construction in coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Strong hands-on experience and review knowledge of electrical equipment sizing, preparation of Equipment Layouts (GIS, switchgear, transformer, capacitor bank etc.), Trays, duct banks & tunnel layouts, Lighting, Shielding & earthing, AC/DC auxiliary system design etc., and inter discipline knowledge for coordination and approval. Experienced in preparation of equipment specifications, feasibility studies, DBRs, and tender documents.
• Familiar with relevant codes & standards International electro-technical commission (IEC), IEEE, BS (British Standards), Regional Standards, Quality and Metrology Organization (SASO), SEC standards etc.
• Understanding and working knowledge of design software – CDEGS, ETAP, CymGrid, Dialux, drafting tools, 3D platform and document management systems.
• Passionate about electrical systems and the power environment. Be a creative leader in design and project management. Have excellent technical skills and be able to mentor staff in their own development and the development of projects.
• Excellent communication skills, both in presentation and documentation with a good command over English.
