Job summary

SYSTRA India is looking for an experienced HVAC design engineer with metro project expertise to lead design reviews and coordinate with MEP teams in Chennai.

Apply HVAC principles to central plants, piping, ventilation and VRF systems, review reports, prepare drawings and ensure code compliance. 15+ years in HVAC required; willingness to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience in HVAC design.
• Minimum 5 years of metro project experience.

Responsibilities

• Review HVAC reports and drawings to ensure output quality.
• Provide high level HVAC design expertise for metro projects.
• Ensure quality and environmental aspects are addressed for projects.
• Communicate with governmental authorities as needed.
• Contribute to the design of metro projects.
• Apply HVAC systems design: central plants, piping, ventilation, VRF, etc.
• Maintain knowledge of international and national codes/standards.
• Review reports, gather data, compute and develop diagrams.
• Review BOQ, cost estimates and technical specs.
• Travel as required for projects.
• For team lead, plan resources and monitor costs.
• Coordinate with Project Manager and clients/GC officials.

Missions/Main Duties

• Reviewing and checking mechanical HVAC reports and drawings to ensure quality of output.
• Provide high level technical expertise when applying mechanical HVAC engineering principles, techniques and methods to the planning and design of building services projects.
• Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
• Communication to governmental authorities.
• To work for the design of metro projects.
• Experience in the design of the HVAC (Central cooling plant, chilled water piping distribution, air duct distribution, variable air volume systems, ventilation, DX systems, VRF, etc.)
• Should be knowledgeable in building design services, associated regulations and technical standards.
• Experience in the HVAC software (HAP), MEP Revit, Excel, Power Point and Word.
• Capable of working on own initiative.
• Effective communication skills.
• Good attention to details. Coordinating with MEP services like Plumping, electrical etc. to locate electrical equipment and providing cable tray & trunking routing.
• Modifying the drawings as per revisions based on Architectural, Structural drawings.
• Making the modifications to individual service drawings as per co-ordination Drawings.
• Comprehensive knowledge of international & national code/Standards
• Review reports and study existing technical information clearly and precisely to attain client requirements.
• Gather data, conduct complex computation and develop diagrams.
• Review BOQ, Cost Estimate and Technical Specification
• Ready to travel according to project needs.
• For team lead, prepare the resource requirement, Cost Monitor and Control
• Coordination with Project Manager and Client/ GC officials.

Profile/Skills

• Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering.
• 15+ years of experience on working in the HVAC design.
• A minimum 5 years of experience in metro projects
