Role Overview
We are looking for a experienced HVAC Design Engineer to lead and manage our HVAC design department. The candidate will be responsible for handling end-to-end HVAC design, guiding the design team, ensuring technical accuracy, and coordinating with sales and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design & Engineering
- Lead HVAC system design for projects including VRF, chilled water systems, ducting, and ventilation.
- Perform heat load calculations using HAP, Elite, or equivalent software.
- Prepare detailed HVAC drawings, including layouts, schematics, piping, duct routing, and BOQs.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant standards such as ASHRAE, ISHRAE, IS codes, and NBC.
- Optimize system selection for cost, efficiency, and performance.
- Review HVAC designs and ensure technical accuracy before submission.
2. Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of HVAC Design Engineers.
- Allocate projects and monitor timelines and deliverables.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure quality control.
- Guide the design team in resolving technical challenges.
- Build a strong, process-driven design team with proper standardization.
3. Coordination & Execution Support
- Coordinate with sales, project, and execution teams for design finalization.
- Support the sales team with technical proposals and pre-sales discussions.
- Interact with clients, consultants, and architects for design approvals.
- Coordinate with project and site teams to ensure designs are practical and execution-friendly.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving site-related design issues.
4. Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare technical submissions, design reports, BOQs, and compliance documents.
- Ensure all drawings and documents are properly maintained and version-controlled.
- Develop and maintain standard design templates and SOPs.
- Ensure design documentation is completed accurately and within project timelines.
5. Innovation & Process Improvement
- Introduce new technologies and improve design efficiency.
- Work on value engineering and cost optimization strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve design quality, accuracy, and turnaround time.
- Drive continuous improvement in design processes and standards.
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in HVAC design, including VRF, ductable, chilled water systems, and ventilation.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (Mandatory).
- Experience with HAP / Elite / similar heat load calculation software.
- Good knowledge of ASHRAE, ISHRAE, IS codes, and NBC standards.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and client-handling skills.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC drawings, BOQs, equipment selection, and system design.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- B.E / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience in HVAC contracting or MEP companies preferred.
- Experience in handling multiple HVAC projects simultaneously is an added advantage.
- Experience in team leadership or managing HVAC design teams will be preferred.
