Job summary

Mahindra Group in Tamil Nadu seeks a Product/Part Development Engineer to drive engine component development within the Techno-commercial domain. You will own APQP milestones and coordinate with suppliers for parts like EGR modules, cam covers, oil pumps, turbochargers and related assemblies.

The role requires strong analytical and leadership skills, with experience in project budgeting, MRD tracking, and cross-functional launch activities for engine programs.

Qualifications

• BE/BTech in Mechanical/Production/Automobile with first-class academics.
• Experience in APQP and DVP for engine components.
• Knowledge of proto development and tooling cost estimation.
• Strong vendor management and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of engine components and powertrain parts per APQP.
• Prepare budgets for parts and projects; track MRD and execution.
• Coordinate with suppliers for tooling, proto, and final toolings.
• Conduct capacity studies, cycle time, and R&R demonstrations.
• Engage in cross-functional meetings (Engineering, Validation, SCM, Plant).

• Engine components – Product/Part Development Engineer
• Engine Proprietary parts Domain knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in Development of Power Train Engine components (EGR Module, Camcover, Oil filter module, Vacuum Pump, Cam cover, Turbo charger, Bearings cap/ Shell, Intake manifold, Engine Assy, Resonator, Exhaust/ Intake Throttle Valve, ECU, Water pump Assy, Oil Pump Assy, Oil cooler, CNG Fuel system, EGR cooler, Solenoid Valve, Oil filter, HPP, PCJ etc )
• Development of parts as per the APQP methodology.
• Budget preparation for Part and Project
• Project management , Project material and Deliverables tracking inline with MRD and execution capabilities .
• Knowledge on Commercials required for various manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge on proto development processes with commercial acumen .
• Tooling cost estimates for proto s and final toolings .
• Knowledge of DVP require for systems & System Validation cycle
• Right Process finalization ( FTG ) with supplier to meet project deliverables
• Capacity assessment and analysis for various process
• Conduction Cycle time study and R@R demonstration to meet Capacity requirements
• Conducting assessment for New supplier and existing Suppliers for Risk evaluation, Gap Audit, System and Process sustainance
• Process Estimation for pricing of New parts and Commercial synthesis to support Vendor selection
• Supplier upgradation through technical assistance to supplier including training, counselling, guiding etc.
• Preparation of MIS thru MS Project ,MS Excel ,MS Power point) and DWM to report Management
• Should be able to take lead role for Internal department activities and execution capabilities
• Knowledge on Project management & Project launch ( Engine Launch & face lift)
• Knowledge on Different project milestones ( VP,PP, Etc).
• Maintain the trackers for MRD,Critical parts, Launch Readiness.
• Engage in CFT meeting : Engineering, Validation, program, Plant,SCM ,Etc.
• Co-ordinate all launch readiness activities for CDMM.
