Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking a BIW Engineering professional with 6–9 years of experience to contribute to body-in-white and closure design projects in Chennai. The role involves supporting engineering, CAD tasks, BOM preparation, and release of drawings in collaboration with system engineers.

You will engage with global BIW requirements, develop sheet metal parts, and assist cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality parts and processes within project milestones.

Qualifications

• Graduate in Mechanical / Automobile Engineering.
• 6–9 years of experience in BIW engineering or related automotive fields.

Responsibilities

• Understand project requirements per program milestones and OEM gateway system.
• Support engineering and design delivery from kick-off to implementation, including QFD, benchmarking, feature analysis, drawings, and CAE/validation.
• Provide CAD support for engineering proposals with internal and supplier colleagues.
• Release drawings and models in collaboration with the system engineer.
• Prepare Bills of Materials.
• Gain exposure to global BIW engineering and design requirements for body closures, underbody, and front end.
• Conceptualize and develop BIW/Closure/Underbody sheet metal parts.
• Assist CDMM and other implementation teams with part development and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities & Key Deliverables

1. 1. Understand project requirements as per program milestones. (Any OEM Product development Gateway System)
2. 2. Support project delivery related to engineering and design from kick off to implementation, including; QFD, benchmarking, feature analysis, engineering, drawing and model preparation and release, CAE and physical validation support, development and implementation support)
3. 3. CAD support for engineering proposals preparation in consultation with internal external (Supplier) experts.
4. 4. Release of drawings and models with system engineer
5. 5. Preparation of Bill of material
6. 6. Exposure to global requirements for BIW engineering and design (Body side Closures, Underbody and front end)
7. 7. Conceptualizing, designing and development of BIW/Closure/Underbody Sheet metal parts
8. 8. Support to CDMM and other implementation team for part development and quality initiatives
