Job summary

GE Vernova is seeking a Lead Contract Manager with an engineering background to guide contractual and commercial matters across pre-award and post-award phases for turnkey EPC projects, ensuring risk control and timely performance.

You will review tender documents and subcontracts, negotiate terms with customers, suppliers and consortium partners, manage change orders and claims, oversee insurance and contract execution, and support legal teams in dispute resolution, with relocation assistance

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of experience in contract management for turnkey EPC projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university.
• Law graduates need not apply.
• Formal legal/contract management training would be an advantage.
• Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently or in a team and meet deadlines in a strong matrix organisation.

Responsibilities

• Review customer tender documents, sub-contracts, consortium agreements with focus on scope, payment, changes, claims, bonds, insurance, extensions of time.
• Pre-award: implement risk controls and mitigation through structured exchange of experiences.
• Post-award: manage all contractual activities from handover to completion and resolve all contractual issues.
• Develop and implement project commercial execution plan including claim strategy.
• Provide support in negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors on T&Cs.
• Maintain timely notifications and correspondence to preserve GE rights and remedies.
• Manage change orders and variations and defend against claims.
• Oversee project insurance policies and collect supporting data for insurance claims.
• Provide contract interpretation support and assist in dispute resolution proceedings.

Job Description Summary

The Lead Contract Manager, an experienced contract expert with engineering background, shall be responsible for supporting project teams on contractual & commercial matters relating to the negotiation, administration, and performance of projects and various contractual relationships thereto including towards customers, consortium partners, suppliers and subcontractors.

Roles and Responsibilities – Pre-award phase

• Reviewing and redlining customer tender documents, sub-contracts, consortium agreements, pre-bid agreements etc with focus on scope, payment process, change order/variation order process, claim management, bonds, insurance, extension of time provisions etc.
• Working with tender/commercial teams to implement risk control & mitigation through structured exchange of return of experience

Roles and Responsibilities – Post-award phase

• Responsible for management and administration of all project contractual activities from handover to execution team and until all contractual obligations are complete and all contractual issues, whether facing customer or supplier/subcontractor, are resolved.
• Implementation of mandated contract management process.
• Identify GE as well as customer/consortium and other third-party obligations and develop and implement the project commercial execution plan, including project claim strategy.
• Providing support in T&C negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors.
• Ensuring regular review of risks and events and maintaining contemporary records in collaboration with project team/other functions for on time issuance of notifications and correspondence to preserve GE rights and remedies.
• Managing change orders and variations as well as making claims facing customer, partners, suppliers and subcontractors and defense of claims made against GE.
• Managing project insurance policies as per GE procedure.
• Compilation of data and evidences in support of notification, submission & settlement of insurance claims.
• Providing advice on contract interpretation and for negotiation of claim settlements with customer, partners, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Providing support as required to legal teams for Alternate Dispute Resolution / Formal Dispute Resolution & Litigation proceedings.
• Periodically share best practices and lessons learnt with project and functional teams.
• Any other commercial/contractual task as may be requested management.

Required Qualifications

• This role requires at least 10 Yrs of experience in a Contract Management role alongside understanding of turnkey EPC projects.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university or college is required.
• Law graduates need not apply.
• Formal legal/contract management training would be an advantage.
• Ability to perform as an individual contributor or collaboratively in a team, with proven interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written English Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Problem solving, analytical skills and ability to address multiple competing deadlines in a strong matrix organisation.
