Job summary

THERMAX in Chennai seeks a civil structural engineer to study contract documents, model and design reinforced concrete and steel structures using STAAD Pro, and ensure adherence to IS codal provisions.

You will review drawings, prepare calculations in Excel, and supervise draftsmen while coordinating with project managers and vendors to deliver on time, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IS codal provisions is essential.
• Review structural drawings and design calculations.
• Experience with RCC and steel structure design implementations.
• Ability to prepare/verify RCC quantity take-offs (MTO).
• Support site team with drawing clarifications.

Responsibilities

• Study contract documents and project design drawings.
• Prepare Design Basis Report for client approvals.
• Model, analyze, and design RCC and steel structures in STAAD Pro.
• Supervise draftsmen to deliver quality drawings.

Role & responsibilities

• Study the project contract documents (time schedule, project design drawings, BOQ, Specification etc.) and assignment drawings.
• Preparation of project specific Design Basis Report to get approval from clients.
• Modelling, Analysis and Design of Reinforced cement concrete & steel structures of Industrial structures using STAAD Pro-connected version.
• Knowledge is required on all latest IS codal provisions.
• Review of structural drawings with respect to design calculations & layout.
• Knowledge in preparing calculations using Excel sheets
• Preparation / checking of RCC Qty and steel Material Take off (MTO).
• Handle and supervise the Draftsmen activities and ensure right deliverable to site team.
• Coordinating with internal team members, Project Managers and vendors, ensuring on time submission of deliverables.
• Checking and approval of all vendor design and drawings.
• Ensuring Compliance with Safety and Quality standards of the company.
• Taking complete responsibility of design and drawing deliverables.
• Possess high ethical standards and committed to producing high quality work with a commitment to teamwork, respect, and integrity.
• Knowledge in supporting proposal level estimation.
• Complete support to site team for any drawing related clarification and required solution on site related problems.
• Attending and project related meetings and participate in solving/reporting any unexpected technical difficulties, and other problems that may arise during construction to the site in-charge for discussion and proper solution.
• Good communication skill is must.
