Lead Bridge Engineer (Japanese) [8 years]

Job Summary

• Bridge Engineer with strong Japanese-English translation skills and software development.
• The engineer is expected to be a dynamic and technically sound Leader in Embedded Software area who can act as a bridge engineer for software coordination between Japan Team and the offshore development team.
• The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in software development and strong Japanese language proficiency to handle technical communication, requirement clarification, and issue resolution with Japanese stakeholders.
• The ideal candidate is expected to follow Japanese quality process.
• The selected candidate is expected to be located in Japan on a long term (more than 3 years)

Qualification

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Science, Electronics, or related fields).

Experience:

• 8+ years of experience in software development including a role as a bridge engineer or translator/interpreter between Japanese and India teams.
• Strong experience in Embedded Systems
• Proven experience in Japanese-English technical translation and interpretation.
• Proven experience in Leading the team. Background as a Bridge Engineer/Software Coordinator in software development.
• Proficient in Japanese technical and business communication (verbal and written) N2 or N1 qualified.

Preferred

• Familiarity with CMMI quality process.
• Prior experience working with Japanese clients or in a Japanese work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Communication & Stakeholder Coordination

• Act as a key liaison (software Coordinator/Leader) between Japan and offshore development teams.
• Translate and interpret technical specifications, emails, meetings, and engineering documentation (Japanese ↔ English).
• Clarify gaps in requirements and specifications through direct engagement with Japanese engineers.
• Participate in technical discussions and project meetings with Japanese clients for requirement gathering, planning, and reviews.
• Expected to Build and maintain strong relationships with Japanese counterparts and internal stakeholders.

Software Development & Support

• Requirement gathering, planning, and tracking.
• Support debugging, issue analysis, and resolution during development and testing phases.
• Assist the offshore team in understanding and implementing Japanese specifications.

Skillsets:

Technical Skills

• Strong experience in C/C++, Java, Python programming.
• Prior Experience in any software development.
• Experience in working with Japan-based development teams.
• Strong ability to engage with Japanese stakeholders and offshore teams.
• Good understanding of microcontrollers (Ex: ARM, Infineon, NXP, etc.).

Language Skills

• JLPT N2 or N1 certification – Mandatory
• Business Japanese Proficiency Test (BJT) – Preferred
• Confident in handling technical and business communication in Japanese (verbal and written)
